I can’t get to pass mark because I am clicking too early even though there is an obvious hazard developing.
Basically I cant get a pass mainly due to clicking too early. Each test I take I am losing out at least 10-15 points on too quick reactions. I am getting slightly worried as my test is in 8 days and despite practising for a while now, not too intensive because I believe the point is not to memorise all the hazard but to get used to reacting the right time.
Did anyone have similar problem? Any tips how to sort it out? Theory questions are not a problem, I pass most of the time.
Yo can click more than once…I generally click (as you) a bit early, leave it 1/2 a second then click again, and then again. you do have to click quite a lot to get a fail on a clip.

Surely the point is to pass the test regardless of what you need to do.
As said above, click more than once but not too much.
If you practice too much and get to know the clips it won’t help as the clips in the real test are different.
Click when you would normally do, wait 1 second then click again, wait 2 seconds then click a final time. This should ensure you hit the " scoring window". Imagine you are driving and only click for things that would make you react whilst driving, indicators, brake lights, cars approaching junctions etc.
Good luck with it.

I struggled at first as well. I failed nearly all the videos because of clicking too early but as what’s already been posted I click about four times now for each hazard. Once when I first spot the hazard then again about 1/2 second after in case I clicked too early then a couple of times as the hazard develops. Passed all the mock exams using that method achieving 80 to 90% each time.
Also I’m using the Driving Test Success Hazard Perception Test (PC) dvd which has tons of videos. It has around 15 mock tests with each test showing 19 videos that don’t get repeated. There are some cgi ones too.
Yeh I got all the gear to practice too. Its just the timing, I will try the method of double or triple clicking and hopefully I wont be flagged up for cheating.
I had this problem too.
as the scoring went 54321 I clicked in groups of 5 clicks to make sure I hit the scoring zone.
passed with 72% which was a lot lower than I was getting in practise, I think it took about 10 clicks to get a fail on a clip

Yeah,he’s right. I done this test only a month ago. click as soon as you see something, leave it 1/2 a second then click again. don’t panic if you get a row of red flags across the bottom of the screen as some clips have more than one hazard. DO NOT rapid click, like 4-5 clicks a second, that clip will be void and the count for that clip will be ‘0’…good luck!
The Hazard Perception test is just that. Your ability to react to a hazard. Sounds obvious but what exactly is a hazard ?
We teach our students that a hazard is anything that causes you to either slow down or change direction. Hazards can be spotted well in advance but when they are still over 100 yds away are you really going to either slow down or change direction at that moment. You should be planning how to deal with the HAZARD as far ahead as you can see it but click the mouse when you would either slow down or need to change direction.
Its a shame that the HP test isn’t done after some practical training as it would seem a lot easier after some real life hazard training.

I agree. Also I realise the video quality would be unusable but what about night time driving hazards. No amount of mouse clicking can prepare you for that
I have been driving enough to understand and react appropriately to all sorts of hazards but the problem is I need to click the right moment to score maximum points. I believe this is not achievable unless you have a tactic. Using 1/2 sec delay to click seems clever and I am going to try this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This might actually work against you!
I did exactly same as you, can see what’s going to happen so you click and it’s too early.
You need to put your mindset to someone who’s never driven and react slower.
Sad but true, being experienced can in this situation be your enemy. The HP test is really for new learners and I think they just upped the score needed for PSV/LGV and as most have been driving for a while we react differently but test not adapted for that so its a struggle and fine balancing act
After trying to apply your tactics i seem to be doing better. However some clips on my Complete LGV and PCV test are impossible to score max points as you cant see through walls or hedges, can you? Some videos have quality issues but it may be down to my laptop spec. I just cant see pedestrians or cyclists hiding in the shades or being partly coverd by other vehicles. Thanks to everyone for your help. I still have a week left to practice.
I had the same issues. On one I was supposed to see a shadow of a vehicle coming around a bend on a country lane. Some of the videos are so pixelated im clicking because I think Ive seen a cyclist and its nothing
87 too on hazard, one clip with nil… as i am a leftie the mouse wire was at full stretch from its normal right handed position , as i went to move at the end of a clip, i clicked accidently and it failed me on that one, 98 on the theory.
i found their hazard test easier than the practice.
review the low scoring clips to see where they wanted you to click.
