Noticed on this board the intense personal hatred so many right-wingers feel to anyone spouting alternative political opinions. It’s not like they’re reacting to you, it’s as if they have an image in their brain of a “lefty” and just respond to the image in their head rather than view each person as an individual. I’ve never been that way - I can disagree with someones politics and still think they’re a great person. In fact the most right-wing person I know I get on with great with - their politics arn’t the entire human being.
Why do you think someone having different political ideas is such a personal affront to you? Have you ever liked a “lefty” in real life?

Some guy who’se never met me telling me what my motivation and character are as if he’s known me all his life. Where does this come from? The image of a lefty you have stored in your head?

So because someone has different political views to you they are guilty of helping to murder millions? You don’t think’s that’s exaggerating a bit? Another question - If someone agrees with you politically do you think that makes him a great bloke?
If I see people to the north of me and to the south of me, it doesnt mean Im on the equator but I might be comfortable.

As it happens, I would say that you and I have had a few exchanges on here, and are of a different viewpoint on many issues, but have always been personally civil haven`t we?

There are some here of differing views who can`t get over themselves unfortunately. Too much time spent in echo chambers where they all massage each others egos. I do wonder why some post here at all.

I suppose I very probably have. Without knowing they were lefties. One of my oldest friends is a staunch one, I’m the opposite. Rare we discuss politics but if we do there’s certainly no nastiness and never will be, just another beer and tell each other we’re full of ■■■■.
Personal insults, nastiness etc belong in the playground.
From my side - I’ve met no end of right-wingers who I got on with like a house on fire. We wouldn’t agree on politics - not in a million years - but there’s more to a man than politics. That’s how I see it.
In fact one of the greatest blessings I think is the ability to talk to people who at first blush you wouldn’t agree with - I’ve met intelligent right-wingers and I can sit and listen to them for hours - even tho I don’t agree with them - I’m still interested in how they came to certain conclusions about life or how it relates to their own life. An open mind is a wonderful thing.
