Harrisons Transport of Holmes Tarleton, was family run firm ( Tom ) they ran out of Preston docks carrying Lancashire Flats on 8 leggers ( including one driven by my uncle Jack that was the moter from the film " the long haul " ) They then got the Sealand Contract and ran a fleet of Fiats, Volvo,s and a Leyland Marathon ( driven by a lad whose cb handle was Fozzie Bear ) . When Bill Molyneux packed transport in some of his work went to Harrisons and it all became Alexander Molyneux Transport ( Alexander being Alexander shipping who owned Tugs in Liverpool ) and the whole lot moved to Leyland. From there Stephen set up on his own and a lot of the old drivers of Harrisons/ Molyneuxs ended up working for Huntapack, Ashcrofts, Rawcliffs , W H Malcom and i believe one lone soul ended up at Stobrats ( neverthe less i dont hold that against him honest ) . So there you have it a short history of it all.
Today Lee Harrison, whose father owned Harrisons of Holmes, is the owner of Harrisons of Tarleton.
Here’s a picture Lee sent me a while back of one of the Leyland Octopus lorries that his father ran.
Good to see the photo ,Thanks for that, My family are related to them and Jack( Harrison ) was only speaking to my mother today, I know the family well and know/knew Tom, Dennis, Harry, Anthony, Stephen well, not so familier with the newer crowd ( they were twinkles in their dads eyes when i was knocking about ) but i still see their moters out and about when im up and down the road.
A couple of pictures Lee sent me a while back when LH11 LCH was brand new.
That reg is familiar for some reason
If they sorted their ride height out, they would have have smartest fleet in the country.
Anyone Got Any Pictures Of These Motors I Think There Realy Tidy
Any Pictures Would Be Apprecited

Jobe Ben

Never been owned by anyone other than the family as far as I’m aware.
They did a lot of container work in the 70s/80s. When Fiat dominated the fleet (those with the trilex wheels) they all seemed to be pulling Sea Land boxes at one time.
I’m pretty certain a shipping company bought them out and then they started up again, I may be wrong, maybe someone who knows them personally can ask about this.
