Dug some out that I took at Crowfield back in May 09…

The second one was an attempt to be a bit artistic - the Volvo on the left, with the rear of one of Robert Parris’ Scanias, and the Harrington Scania on the right.

you need a new tripod mate, im not going to bother bending me neck to look at pics like that!

**I’ve re-named this post slightly because when I posted it I didn’t realise how much interest it would generate. It started as a couple of what I thought were local Scanias run by Jobe Transport, but as you will read below it has stirred the memories of some members…

Left over from yesterday, I liked these two so much I thought they merited a post on their own…anybody know why the two company names, I assume they are owned by Jobe and subbing for Harringtons■■?

The look like Kerby Motors who i think are from Aberdeen, they also used to have a Scania 111 restored in those colours aswell.

Interesting to see G24 GNG. I used to drive G30 GNG for a few years, an R113.320 6x2 tag unit. Also both the units in the photo have East Anglian reg’s, NG being from Norwich, and BJ from Ipswich.

Glad you liked the pics…well Jobe Transport are based in Thetford so I assume they either bought them locally or always owned them, but I know nothing about the company so hence my question.

jobe used to rent space from my old man at roudham industrial estate in norfolk just off the a11 at watton turn off. will give him a bell and ask if they are still in the yard.

Its a Ex-Kerbey Motors from Aberdeen, now operated by Chris Harrington in Thetford, Norfolk.

Well done Rob. It happens that Jobe Transport are also registered in Thetford, hence the connection I guess; although they are based at Roudham not too far away.

It’s a great livery, you can see why they didn’t want to change it too much.

i think there was an article on essex truck that did the middle east and the owners son restored a 111 scania in essex colours complete with trailers and the son now works quite high up at grampian freight.

or something along those lines.

anyway thats essex trucks colours.

ex james baker motor, interesting its badged as a 143 v8

If I am looking at the same firm, and correct me if I’m wrong, but they were owned by a family from London called Mountain, the original owner of the firm being called Albert, and the reason for all the BYM number plates was that the guy’s son who eventually ran them was known as Bim. The firm started on Kerbey Road in Stratford, E. London, hence the company name.

Hence the graphic on the back of this cab, which also seems to feature 2 Essex International 1 series. This thread is getting complicated!!!

There’s more…!!!

And the last one, very similar to my Crowfield shot…

I was parked next to one of these in Orleans t’other week.it was pulling an old red curtainsider. It was one of the ones with Aberdeen Asia on it

chorcheela:

I used to drive that for James Baker from Mendlesham, i was on Autocontex pulling their tilts around the UK and also down to Ingolstadt in Germany, its not a 143, it is a 113 360. Its a nice motor, and went well when i had it (around the time M or N reg was new)

I went to overtake G24 GNG a fortnight ago on the Orwell bridge (eastbound) one evening. I was in an R580 topline (white ,blue writing etc) Anyways, could have easily got past him but didn’t bother as i wanted to hear the old gal sing as she started to pull up the incline of the bridge, she sounded gorgeous!! There’s no beating a scania v8, especially a 143 like that!
