No back end view though Dave, pity. I’m sure somebody on here, maybe 3300 John, will know Moss and Lovatt from Rushton Spencer,I remember seeing them around.

Hiya …yes i know steve barlow the mechanic at moss and lovatt(now closed down) he told me the badge did’nt belong to the guy
which i already new…i’am certain when a driver left harrisons at milton he had a spare 240 badge one day he eventually put on the guy.
I think the moss and lovatt guy is been rebuilt…I am saying think as i do know the cab is all welded up with many new panels but David
(director at moss and lovatt)who was doing the restoration got taken i’ll and unfortunatly passed away very sudden…the guy was to be
finished by steve barlow in Davids honor but that has now ceseased…Steve owns the A series erf thats in moss and lovatts livery…
one thing is for sure the guy is not a 8lxb its a little sister with 6 pots.
John

That clears it up nicely then John, the 240 badge came from a Big J of Harrisons of Milton that WAS ACTUALLY FITTED WITH A 8LXB! Yippeeeeeeeeee, proof at last, close the thread down quickly chaps before the ‘doubters’ log on!!

Were they silver Dave ? No wonder there’s none to be found then is there !!! I’m only sorry that the book all about Gardner only lists the total number of engines supplied to each vehicle manufacturer over the years and not the individual types i. e. 4LK,5/6 LW,150 LX and 6 and 8LXB’s ect. what a pity !! Cheers Dennis.

I was told that Gardner sent their badges to Sheffield Assay office for hall marking and lad that did them made copies to sell at car boot sales
cheers Johnnie
PS he might have sent the copies back to Gardner :unamused:

The Archbold Guy wouldn’t have had the 8LXB engine as it is a older cab that was in build well before the Big Gardner made it’s first appearence in the Guy around 73/74 ! Sorry,Cheers Dennis.

It just goes to show it pays to read all the threads on this forum  .
Cheers Dave.

Has anyone ever built one, sold one when new, repaired one,DRIVEN one,or at least seen one or possibly got a photo (side view) showing the 8 potter sticking out the rear of the cab .

This was my first post on the matter and a very simple straight forward one at that ! nowhere in the post did I dispute the fact that there were, indeed, some Big J’s that had the 8LXB engine fitted. Cheers Dennis.

Would this be a shot of Santa dressed in his “enviromentally friendly” garb---- or is it a shot of Mo off ESL’s T V show having a 45 break? Well it looks like a Stobart uniform dosen’t it ? Cheers Dennis.

That Dennis is the ‘proper’ Santa Claus outfit, before Coca Cola invented the red coat to fit in better with their advertising.

Pete.
