Hello, I’m not trying to wind people up here, (especially not Mr Bewick) I have no idea where this picture came from but here is a Scottish registered Big J, blow up the image, the cab looks longer than normal and check out the grill badge. I don’t know if its been on here before, and I have definately not doctored it. Regards, Mizzo.
It’s interesting, isn’t it? I have tried through the DVLA’s taxation site to find info. on the mythical Gardner 240 engined Big J4’s to whether they exist, and every one of the number plates i’ve put in say “No information exists”…
All very strange. THERE might have been the odd prototype, but my money is with Dennis…

The is no information on any vehicle that is no longer registered on the DVLA website Endit. Those Big J’s are long gone.

Sounds like desperation is setting in to me Dave !! But as for understanding the lingo it depends on wether you are a native of North or South ■■■■■■■■■■ Marra !! Cheers Dennis.
.
I think this Big J was possibly the first one to be fitted with an 8LXB,we had to camoflage the fact by fitting a 180 badge to the grille !!!
If you look at the Evans motor with the 8LXB in it from the front then look at the Bewick motor with
the 6LXB from the front the exhaust collector box is twice the size on the 8LXB motor i wonder why that
is then.

No back end view though Dave, pity. I’m sure somebody on here, maybe 3300 John, will know Moss and Lovatt from Rushton Spencer,I remember seeing them around.
If you find a picture of the back end.The 8LXB sceptics would want to see a picture with the head off the engine .
Cheers Dave.
I think now someone will have to actually have an 8 pot gardner with head off and the guy unit it came out of in their front garden with photo evidence of engine removal and jesus will return to the earth with the 12 disciples including the grass judas to prove once and for all it did exist be happy all fredm
