GUY Big J 8LXB Tractor Unit

Casual Observer:
That one must be fitted with the special short version of the 8 LXB , it does not have the extended front facelift grille , and it has a spare wheel between back of cab & 5th wheel .

Correct, there was a shorter version and I believe that it was called the 6LXB? Possibly even rarer than the eight cylinder version…

Pete.

That maybe one of those proof of time travel examples.Someone has read this topic then gone back in time and parked a non 8 cylinder Gardner powered Big J where the original one was in the photo at the time. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

And apparently when laying out the print press the typesetter became completely overwhelmed by the thought of a Guy 8LXB and used completely the wrong typeface halfway through the script

Nearly Got me  Try getting the Editing in line better next time

93 pages so far discussing nothing!

Thanks God we have a sense of humour (apart from Leatherhead that is!)

You’ve just “cracked it” that will be his nickname from now on,and spot on at that “” “The Leatherhead” ■■■■■■■ brilliant !!   Bewick.

I nicknamed one of my drivers Junction Nine (the Leatherhead junction on the M25) as he was a Leather Head, both in appearance and mental ability.

Are we talking about one and the same by any chance?? Cheers Bewick.

No way, I’d be writing this from the murder wing in Wormwood Scrubs if CF had ever worked for me

The only thing this CF Geeza worked was his ticket as the old Saying goes, A WORKY TICKET IN EVERY SENCE OF THE WORD. He could start an argument all by himself in the middle of a field, Regards Larry.

The original cutting was borrowed from Marc "Bubs " scrapbook page as shown below but it seems as if it copied incorrectly :unamused:

Hiya,
Dennis, I do happen to have on one occasion been “on the pop” in Bethlemen

barman asking me how well I knew Margaret Thatcher the beer was rubbish
as well.

I’ve been on the pop in Bethlehem too, and the beer was alright - probably improved since your day! I think the 3 Wise Men had got held up by one of those Israeli control posts. Robert

Woehoe…me being ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ now replying on a Gardner-thread

By the way, the 1978 4 page leaflet is for sale and in perfect condition, via google
