Government plans to ban lorries at rush hour

Its the same ole story.
The muppets who dream up this bollox have no bloody clue about logistics and transport in general.
Complete tossers. Treat them with the contempt they deserve.

aye, your not wrong there mate that’s for sure.
Thinking about it, its abit like banning the hand that feeds you!

They can bring in all the rules and regs they want but big firms will still pander to their demands. LEZ, FORS, Safe lorry zone, permits just to deliver before 7am when the traffic’s light, make the drivers ride a pushbike. About time some big firm took the lead and said “if you don’t want our business then go ■■■■ yourselves, we’ll put our money and resources elsewhere.”
Anyway it wont affect me as my boss refuses London work and refuses to glue gimmicks onto his trucks just for the privilege of sitting in traffic for crap rates.

No - exactly like banning the hand that feeds you !!

Dont understand why lorry drivers get so upset about positive changes . its your boss who has to work it out .

Then you must have a good boss. Fact is, either we’ll all be pushed on to nights and there’ll be an even bigger load of ■■■■■■■■, also known as the driver shortage, or we’ll set out at 4 , have to park doing ■■■■ all for 2 hours starting at 7. Then sleepily (because sitting around doing nothing always sends me to sleep, don’t know about anyone else) set out again to do the days work, then flee the city at top speed at about 15:30.

Why dont they just ban trucks alltogether in the capital.

After a few days theyll be begging us to come back.

Maybe the Government should start to look upon the Haulage industry as an essential service and asset, instead of a necessary evil that has to be put up with, as they do at present, that is the whole basis of the problem in this job, not just this scenario.
One of the reasons for the overnight parking with proper facilities problem, basically they don’t give a ■■■■ how we get along, as long as we deliver their stuff.

Spot on Rob!

Not a problem surely - if you ban trucks from driving around London in the rush hour - they are not going to bother going there at all during the day, in case they are still there by evening rush hour…

Time to bring back night runs in London methinks.

That’s more pay, less hassle for us all.

Who wants to drive in rush hour traffic for day pay in a day cab anyways? :unamused:

Where is London ? is it the black taxis bit the centre of London. Or is it the safer lorry -scheme which covers just about every thing inside the M25.

Firstly it seems obvious that it would be effectively unviable to operate trucks there between the two ‘rush hour’ periods. While the idea can only be based on the admission by the cyclist lobby that trucks can’t co exist with cyclists in London. So the same premise must obviously apply at the times when trucks are allowed to operate there by banning cyclists at those times.Whatever they eventually decide the idea of shifting transport operations there over to night work seems advantageous to everyone.

London and TFL’s turf means the Greater London Boroughs as of more or less 1965.It has absolutely nothing to do with the M25 nor a considerable amount of the turf within it. :unamused:

What is “rush hour” in London anyway? I’ll always thought it was from about 7:00 until about 19:00 in the God forsaken ■■■■■■■■ :unamused:

I thought it was tipper’s that were public enemy No1 in London?

Sure this was discussed in a different thread a couple of months ago. Did we reach a reasonable conclusion as to why tippers were deemed to be more likely to be involved in cyclist collisions, over other LGV’s?

George Galloway was on radio London Thursday morning and stated that if he became mayor of London there would be no hgvs or delivery vehicles in London during daylight hours.

Remember this is the same bloke who sucked up to Saddam Hussein and pretended to be a cat on some tv show.

If that ■■■■ had his way he’d probably bring Sharia Law in the waste of oxygen.

Grayham:
Why not just ban HGVs altogether from London I’m more than happy to tip my load at an RDC outside the M25 and have a dozen or more vans deliver my load into that [zb] hole

Maybe the cyclists can carry it in one piece at a time

Like your thinking

or a trailer fixed to a cyclist big enough to pull a 4/3 pallet, love to see a cyclist trying to tow a pallet weighing around 500 kilos to 1000,comical

excellent, then that pxxxk would have to deal with all the businesses who want their goods during the day and are not prepared to open at night, can you imagine these company bosses rounding on Galloway, that would be something for you tube, just looked at his contact details which are George@galloway2016.london
