Got a parking ticket at birch

Being a poor and destitute owner driver, I don’t pay to overnight on msa’s.
To avoid getting begging letters and the subsequent moaning from the wife, I have found that since the change to anpr cameras, the best thing to do is to cover the last digit of the front plate with,of all things, the sleeve of a m&s ready meal.
This has worked fine, untill now.
I have received a begging letter from cp plus,as a result of parking overnight recently.
The anpr camera now takes a picture of the rear as you leave. (cunning barstuards)
Mental note to ones self to turn plate around.
Point being, has anything changed since October, with regard to them needing to have the name of the driver?
Or is it still safe to ignore the threats?

Just ignore the letters, they might threaten you with court but they cant force you to pay.
They just hope people will pay up and most do.

That’s how I have handled it in the past, but I understand that (maybe) things have changed from October.

Its not that they can’t force you to pay, to get you to pay they have to take you to court and prove theat they have ‘lost’ out financially etc. and when it comes to £20 it will cost them a lot more than that to take you to court and cost them money, yet they are only still likely to get the £20 out of you. pepipoo.com

Ok
Thanks for the replies.

I have had that happen at birch just ignored it…also little hitler in high vis and clip board at Leicester forrest said he was going to clamp me …told him to … himself and come back in the morning…no clamp no hitler…there just private little companys trying to fleece drivers.

you need to change your plates entirely.
diplomatic plates.
illegal, but fun.
i’m sure you’re already aware, all the good stuff is illegal nowadays.

Or get some 007 revolving ones.

Ken.

Tell you what!
I would if someone made em!

Remember, the letters are Invoices not Penalty Charge Notices, and as someone else said, they will have to drag you all the way through court to enforce it, and courts do not like these companies!!

And remember ONLY the land OWNER can take you to court, not a third party like CP Plus or NCP.

The only change to the law post 1st Oct is that the PPCs can now chase the Registered Keeper if the driver isnt known.

Still nothing they can do except swivel

I understand that the owners & operators of MSA’s are legally or contractually obliged to offer their services F.O.C as part of the terms & conditions of their permission to operate an MSA on our motorway network.

Is it fair that we all park up overnight F.O.C to use & abuse their facilities?

I can see a problem arising & all problems ultimately attract a solution. I’m not sure that we’re going to like the possible solutions !

In fact, the cynic in me is screaming at me, he’s shouting that they’re quite happy with the current situation of an unenforceable ‘fines’ system, 'cos the solution to that niggly little problem is going to be far more £lucrative for them than investing £millions in facilities & overcharging the few who are honest enough to end up paying to use them.

Roadranger, you are part of the problem. You will not know what the problem is exactly until the MSA operators announce the solution.

I wouldn’t interfere with the plates though. If the police spot you doing it they will quite possibly issue you with a ticket you cannot ignore…

What’s the penalty for no plate?

“I can assure you it was there when I started my journey officer”.

it used to £30 fixed penalty. cheaper to pay the parking .

Is it £30 or £60 folks ?

Is losing a No’ plate in any way related to an unsafe load?

This is pure comedy to me
