Old Richard will turn in his grave. 
I don’t think Richard Read would be too disappointed with his sons decision,s. He always had a mixed fleet when I worked for him.Even a Volvo!!!
A lot more mixed marque fleets around these days. Smiths will “never run one make again” according to one of their drivers. I suppose it’s to keep dealers on their toes. In Smiths case, Fodens’ were guaranteed an order every year, and came as a shock when an ERF turned up.

This one has the lightest Thompson steel body, the “Stonemaster.” Quite a good payload of 19200 according to Thompsons. We looked into getting one with similar spec but gave up due to the current race to the bottom regarding load rates. One firm’s doing muck for £130/load, when tipping charges are at £90/load.

The CRT Scania 0002CRT double drive unit has just been refurbished to Like New condition and is snoozing in full retirement duty, not intended to be used other than as mobile Hotel, a new banger is on the starting blocks with a tad more beans to poke into the tarmac.
