.Richard Read has passed away.RIP boss.
Dear Sirs.
I used to drive for a few Gloucestershire companies, R A Poole Electrical Wholesalers Cheltenham, Linotype-Paul (which went onto be Linotype Limited, Linotype Siemens and lastley Linotype-Hell), M S Ellis Transport, Patrico Ltd Tewkesbury and last of all Novellini Bathrooms of Toddington, Glos.
I am an avide model maker I tend to make Ex Military Heavy Haulage in 1/35th scale and I am making a 1/24th scale model of my old Linotype Bedford TK (was sold to Railside Engineering), I am also making a model of Elliotts Bedford OB Tippers, I would very much like to make a model of one of Mike Ellis’s ERF’s preferably the Benfords one, I know he had three in that livery , I drove the DAF1900 with hiab, but as i cant get a kit of that model, I was planning to do an ERF , E series. I know that Johnnie Field drove the ERF with the Hiab and his son Steve drove another with the Benfords livery, does any one have any photosgraphs of Ellis’s ERF’s, I will need 3, as I intend to enter the finnished model in next years Model Truck Show at Gaydon, (I need 3 photos for that as it will be going into the Replica of a Real Vehicle class). I will look forward to hearing from any one with info.
Regards dizzy-t

I’ve seen it a few time just recently and it looks like it was on the Lucozade contract out of Coleford.

cheers for that Paul , i actually saw it delivering to Sainsburys Hereford , regards Keith .
Hi Keith, Was in Coleford today on a truck photo shooting session and yers the new Daf of RR’s pulling out of Formpave. Kind regards…
Nice to see Coleman’s have kept to their traditional livery- looks really good on any vehicle. Much nicer than the current cheap trend for a strip of sticky vinyl.
Hi Rof, I took these the other day as well, I think they’re from up your way…Farrell’s from Chester & Crabtree’s from High Peak…

Hi , Paul , thanks again , do you think the DAF will be a new trend for RR ? Got to say i do not like the orange colour , good to see this thread back in action ! regards Keith .
Well Keith, I’ve got to say I’m not a fan of the new livery but there again the two-tone blue was all I ever saw living in the forest. I presume they must have discussed the colour change etc. I’ve not heard anything about the change to Daf as the late Richard was such a staunch ERF man. I’m sure all will become clear in the coming years. It is a bit odd, ORANGE. Mabe it’s only on demo…I’m not here to judge, I just take photo’s…But orange.
Thanks for the two (fairly) local to me. Told you northern lorries could look decent!
And you could always try an orange filter on yer camera!
