Wonder if that load is bitumen from Cinderford , regards Keith .

Does anyone know if Fairford Steam Rally is on this year? I can’t get their website to load…

Yes it seems to load ok here…It’s on 16th & 17th August 2014, Quarry Farm, Poulton, Gloucestershire…

Thanks for that, I’ll probably go to that one although it’s meant to be smaller than when it was held at Fairford Park. Hope that “horse theatre” stuff isn’t the entertainment this year like in 2011 (cancelled in 2012). Christ it was boring…
Banbury Rally is on the last weekend in June, that’s always good. Despite the Foden Society “gathering” the other year being in single figures.

Don’t forget the builders merchants

The Staverton i am thinking of seemed only big enough for a farm, a school and some houses.

Staverton between Gloucester and Cheltenham has a small airport and several firms working from there. I used to deliver to a Gloucester council depot there in the late 1960’s, early 70’s.
Cheers Dave.

That’s the one, lived in a village called Boddington just down the road from there.Would spend many a happy day at the airport watching aircraft land and take off, even managed to seek into the wonderful Skyfame museum they had there.Used to have all sorts of trucks and earthmovers short cut through the our village on the way to the M5.

Cheltenham and Gloucester area is a pain for weight limits nowadays. You cam’t even take the A46 from Cheltenham through to Stroud anymore (I used to love that route, Cheltenham down to Sodbury quarry for type 1 back to Witney).Plenty of sightseeing…and laybys.
I love driving in the Cotswolds, which is why I love our Bristol run. Start at Creed Catering in Staverton, across to Halls at Woodchester, down the A46 to Bath. Then 7 or so around Bristol, then to Sodbury, then sometimes Fairford and home.

Ever thought of buying a tour bus?

I should do, but I prefer Bath with no tourists.

Off topic a bit, sorry.Staverton Airport has been a bit busy this week with WW2 pilots having a meet up.I attended an air show there years ago and Concorde touched down on the runway.

dont know where this came from. mr cypher perhaps?
