No Keith, They were all flats.

ALMOST right, LL!
Dougie bought a second-hand Mammoth Major ergo tipper for Tony Giles to drive, although it stayed in it’s blue colour. Nice motor, although the previous owner had the best out of it. It was run out of various quarries, notably on the Glos. Northern bypass job.
I recall a Mercury artic (Park Royal cab) and two ergo Mandators, both of which ran with drop-sided trailers hauling china clay from Cornwall to Middlesborough. On arrival, the sides were dropped and most of the load was pushed over the opposite side with a JCB. A brush and shovel cleared the rest. I can’t for the life of me remember what their return loads were- the brain cell ain’t working that well!

your right it was, can remember him having red road trains with brick trailers. Dave Trigg drove for him for years then come too work at Cecil’s.

We went to Cheltenham and Gloucester yesterday, and after a meal at the Toby Carvery at Brockworth, travelled along the A417. I couldn’t believe the number of utterly pointless weight limits there are. Perfectly good wide roads with obvious NIMBY limits on them. One at Brockworth has a weight limit for about 50 yards, then another starts from the opposite end. These have no exceptions on the signs so technically the ten or so houses there can’t receive deliveries on anything above 7.5 tonners.Another restriction on the road near ASDA/the old loco depot (where the new Morrisons’ is), the place is on a par with bloody London!
At least Oxford is one big weight limit, once you’re in you can then access anywhere (obeying the city centre restrictions obviously).
Don’t start me off on the 7.5t limit on the A46 at z Painswick; Another lovely road ruined by the NIMBY brigade. :imp: :imp:

There’s another name from the past. Dave (Donkey) Trigg drove an 8-wheeler bulker out of Merrin End when I first encountered him. He was brother-in-law to Mick Russell who worked for Old George, Young George and Harold Read. Last time I saw him he drove one of the ergo Mandators with dropside trailer.
Dougie was on the committee of Cinderford British Legion where we would attend the Saturday night dances, then carry on into the Sunday lunchtime session!
Happy days.

Well ROF its seems like you enjoyed your time around the forest  Regarding the northern relief road at Gloucester. The last time I met young George he was on the shale job from opposite the Dilke Hospital. We were also on that job with our two Bisons as work was a bit slack in Birmingham.I joked with George that he had forgotten to go to the post office to tax the motor he was driving. :unamused: Question for Flowerpower,do you recall the lady driver on your fleet?
