Thanks for the photo, McW.
Cheers, Laurie, that also answers my next question- is there a connection with AT?
I wonder if Maguires were concerned when all those Santa Fe lorries appeared in the same group as Oldacres?

I know that Santa Fe ran several of their units pulling bulkers for Oldacres in particular for the grain division based at Ducklington. The main reason that Unigate bought Oldacres was to have an in house supplier of feedstuffs for their Poultry rearing units i.e J P Woods etc. I don’t think it affected Maguires too much as they had always had irons in other fires as well. I did a lot of work for Oldacres in the 70’s but that was before Maguires were on the scene.

The 111 in the picture was one of 3 they ran the first being a P reg RAB ■■? P the next 2 being VNP 212V & KAD ■■? V , the latter being written off after being sold to an O/D.

The only Santa Fe pictures I have are Ford Transconti’s; RAB 969P, FNP 222S, YAB 900R. Scania 81; REA 364R. Scania 111; XDH 849S, KAD 171V. Merc’s; E675 MPP, SDP 3Y, B367 PDD & B477 MAD. But if anyone has any more I would like to see them…

Sorry mate I got the 111 reg mixed up with the transcon! There was a Transcon which remained in the Ford demo livery for a long time i.e yellow/brown it was LAB 151T . There was one 141 in the fleet which I think was OFX 800W.

I’ve seen a picture of, I think it’s a Merc. SK. reg; NDD 773W in blue with red sun-visor, grill, bumper and mudguards pulling a Santa Fe twin axle curtainsider. I don’t know if this belonged to a subby or what. Be nice to find out…

I think IIRC that truck belonged to a farming partnership from Stoke Orchard which was Bellingham & Knight who used to do bulk work but subbed for Santa Fe when the bulk work was quiet. I think that Colin Bellingham who used to drive it was badly injured in a motorcycle accident and subsequently the vehicle was sold. I think that info is fairly accurate but the old grey matter is getting past the sell by date - Cheers

Was that the '70’s, '80’s or when ■■

Would have been in the 80’s they bought the vehicle from Mudie Bond new and W reg was 80/81. Oldacre Services Ltd were the original M/B dealers before Mudie Bond took it over but don’t remember exactly when possibly late 70’s?

Jon Chandler was the man who was the Yankee railroad fan. I think that the only connection between Milners and Mudie Bond is that Milners (Edgwicks) own the land and rented the Yard and buildings to Mike Mudie and Richard Bond . I see now Rygor Trucks are in the building where they were and I believe that Arthur Spriggs has The Merc Franchise.

Yers another one I snapped yesterday. I was talking to the owner of this E14 and when he had it from new it was the first ERF double drive with this type of cab. Paintwork and sign-writing is original from new… Nice old truck though…

Is he still running that E14, Paul? I remember seeing it when it was new.

I don’t think it’s used everyday, I know he uses it maybe once or twice a week depends on the workload I suppose. My late uncle delivered it when new…Good old wagon though…

I’d agree with you there, matey. If they were well looked after they were as good as anything in their day. And they didn’t rot, unlike the Swedish offerings!

Regarding Colemans lorries,Are Dave and Francis still operating? I dont think they ever ran ERF,s.

Get away with you! Don’t you remember the A-series? Looked very smart in cream and red, I always thought.

I’ve only got a picture of an LV. Don’t know how many of these they had or the ‘A’ series…

I will ask our brother when he gets back, cause he knows them better than me, he’s at the Malvern show. I hope he’s taking some good photo’s as he borrowed my camera…

That ERF must spend most of its time in the garage , as each time i pass its never out regards Keith

Mr.ROF,I am sorry to have got that one wrong. However judging by the number plate on the ERF they must have got that when I emigrated to Birmingham

Yers an old 'un from Redmarley…

Yers Brian Cox’s AEC as a wrecker…

And here it is restored to its original spec…

And the rear…

Thanks to Clive Williams for the Lloyds pictures…
