That’s a cracking photo of an AEC MK3 “tin front”. I remember being “upgraded” to one of those in 1970 when working for A E Evans.

These were Cuts called “Pistola’s” in Italy , the italians said they looked like pistols!

EVG 249 pictured between Fornovo di Taro and Pontremoli in 1959. Loaded for the Campbell’s factory at King’s Lynn with frozen vegetables for soup making. This was a regular run back then after Wyatt’s had aggued the case that to transport the veg. this way was quicker than shipping it in containers and then waiting for the boxes to arrive. The route back from Italy was via La Spezia,Genoa,Ventimiglia then skirting by Monaco and up through France to Calais , this would take a day,a night and another day to complete whereas the containers were taking up to a fortnight!

Did Garnhams ever take any of your old AEC’s, LB76?

My father in law used to drive for them in the 60’s/70’s and has several old photo’s of them.

Could be wrong Goaty (i frequently am) but i dont think so. Time we were done with them i dont think there was much life left in 'em.

View of Diss as it is now at the junction of Stuston Road and Victoria Road. Wish i could find out what happened to the iron sign that used to be over the office.I bet it has gone for scrap with no-one knowing t5he value of it.
