Have DT Donald gone bust ? Few of their motors up for sale in the Commercial Motor with Humphries.
Saw a Primair Scania pulling one of their livered fridges. Who are Primair ? Look a bit like Harrisons
who DO pull for Fowler Welch and must have gained their own work with Peter Gilding importers as I have seen their trailer with both Harrisons and Gildings name on what is a very smart looking Fridge.
WA Wright are New Lane ? did they go bust and were revamped or was it simply a name change.? I began seeing trailers a good while back with WA Wright scrubbed out and New Lane placed on the trailers.
D T Donald no longer exist - how that came about is unsure at the moment, but the operation that has replaced them is called Ascroft International.
Donald’s motors all went back to Volvo and have been seen on the pages of the classified section of Commercial Motor in recent weeks for sale at various Volvo dealers (including their FH16-610)
Premair are associated with Harrisons and run out of the same yard at Holmes along with Richard King. They premises were (or maybe still are) owned by the Harrison family - I will ask one of them when I see them next (it’s been a while…)
W A Wright and New Lane Transport were one in the same until the whole lot went pop (again) last week.
The owner was last seen riding a horse not far from his home, and someone who was stood talking to him was heard to say later “that’s probably the only transport that really suits Arthur…”

Isnt that Ascroft International from Luton - linked to Luton Coldstores and have a place in the Netherlands ? Isnt that also the company that was in a bit of bother a couple of yrs ago and the owner had to lie low ?
Or was it just a rumour ?
anyhow their app for 25 wagons an trailers has been withdrawn and was objected by Tarleton Council
(vosa publication - march 2006)
This particular Ascroft is based in Tarleton and also opearates a heavy haulage operation.
They move Caterpillar plant around and have run big Scanias and Volvos recently.
There was some press speculation about members of the family that own the company some years back, but I don’t think it had anything to do with the running of the business.
ok guys quick update dt donald didn’t go bust dave dinland sold the bussiness to graham ascroft (heard a rumour he went bust again but only off drivers grapevine
premair is harresons and owned an run by mr harresons grandson
yes harresons still own the yard yes its like dessert at the moment and yes we do still run out of there
Hmm, I wonder what Mr Ascroft’s next move will be, given that the Parish Council opposed his application for a licence renewal for 25 vehicles and 25 trailers?
The VOSA website confirms that the application was subsequently withdrawn, so what now for Ascroft International?
I’d heard that dave donald has some sort of cancer, don’t know if its 100% true though.Anyone know what phil ascroft is like to work for on the heavy haulage side
This is still off topic and is bringing back a old thread from the dead, but DT Donald is back, im not fully aware of what happened but have been informed that he tried selling the business (Ascroft Int maybe) but it went wrong. I dont know how long hes been back in business but i went to his brand spaking new yard on Tuesday and there were 4 fridges and 2 plain white FHs parked up, one fridge with Hazledene Foods livery the rest were plain white with red chassis, just his old trailers with no decals really. Do not know how many trucks hes got this time around, but theres a few of his old units and trailers bobbing around with new owners in Burscough, which is where his new yard is, just behind MJ Griffiths and Davenport Transports yards in the industrial estate. Anyone know if hes recently come back into business or been at it for a while?
Does anyone know what the name and number of the fridge haulier based in Burscough is please? They have an 03-reg FH globetrotter (at least) and the base town name was seen on the drivers door. The vehicle in question was pulling an all white unmarked fridge last night (23rd) on the M6 northbound between the M62 and the East Lancs.
Thanks for taking the time to reply Ken. Sadly it wasn’t that company. I’d know the name if I saw it, if you get me, and Baybutt’s wasn’t the company name.
