Ford Transcontinental

Ade1970:
Could be LVX 939V, not sure DJF 135T comes to mind also

Good old shots there Ade, fairplay. There used to be a bunch running around on the furniture contracts, and Bells in their 2nd or 3rd lives.
One of Kelvins motors, F10 used to be parked in LLanbradach, always with a TIP curtainsider.
Does anyone remember Adrian Daniels, ran a white F10 on the furniture. I think he was from Tonyrefil.

Thanks Paul, Steveā€™s pictures of the Transconā€™s are superb also. I put this picture on the Scania thread of the yard shunter at TIP Wolverhampton. My ā€œTā€ reg RS 2000 Custom is in the background, you may remember it. I think you had a V reg at the time? Ade.

Ade you have a great memory mate. My black RS 2000 custom was V reg in superb condition, and I reluctantly sold it along with a F reg mk 2 1600E cortina to start in business for my self. You canā€™t put an old head on young shoulders, but borrowing money was not the way to go, especially in road transport.
Keep the picā€™s coming,
Regards Paul

Lloyds of Stafford Transcon demonstrator, me driving and my mate by the step

The red and white transcontinental from Barry subbing for Cardiff International on page 17 posted by Ade Looks like an old Hewson Brothers from Howden.I know one of their Transcontiā€™s ended up with an owner driver in Wales, met it parked up in a lay by in Kent about 1989 and the driver told me it had just turned 2 million milesā€¦
Anyone got any Hewson Brothers Transcontinental pictures ?

Ringrose mate,

Is this one a bit of you mate?

Iā€™m pretty sure the bloke driving this was an o/d and for some reason I think he may have been welsh. Iā€™m also sure this is one of Hewson Bros trucks.

I took this one summer evening in Tiverton Devon back in the late 80ā€™s,I was probably only 15 or 16 at the time. He was delivering the tractors to an farm machinery dealer called MST,Medland Saunder and Twose.

Thereā€™s mention and some pics of this same truck on the West Wales Hauliers thread.

Cheers Jamie

Hi all,
As far as I am aware? This transcontinental was owned and ran by west Wales based owner driver Colin wilshaw.member ec14 would know for sure :sunglasses: .
Regards Andrew.

that transcon was run by colin wilshaw & was ex hewson bros, colin bought it from colin stevens in barry.

NZ Jamie, Pete 359,EC 14,
Wow ! Yep, thatā€™s the lorry - When I saw it in Kent it was parked up, pulling a Detrafor Tilt, have a picture of it somewhere in the loft.
The driver told me it was a replacement cab! As a result of accident, but all else original and the correct reg number.
Many thanks to all 3 of you for coming up trumps, you have made my night !
I guess it went to scrapā€¦?

A bit more from the model Transcon Iā€™m building.
Neil.
