Richie, Richmond, Roland, 1993 Dieppe Bobby Long rolling into town.

This may seem strange but BLJ 28A is BHU 695V. Bob Long bought the plate as it stood for “Bob Long’s Juggernaut”. This was now 1997 and it also had an ERF grill fitted. Bob pulled low loaders for Andy Riseborough at Cambrian Plant. Shortly after DAFman Richie acquired the vehicle. Came to a halt by Tesco’s at Maesglas if I remember Richie. Ade

Nice pics Ade, I do remember the problem outside tescos on cardiff road but cant remember what the problem was?? was i out of fuel? if yes i can be forgiven as i was about 13 years old

Rich, I remember jumping in Bob’s Range Rover and racing out to you. I think it was battery related, we pulled the Transcon with the Range Rover into the middle of the road to let the traffic flow until it got mobile again.

couple of pics of mine , which i dont think have been seen before , from a once great company ! .

hi ade i forgot kelvin and ray saltiel done mots for tip and wat lorries they had then but steve saltiel will remember so come on steve fill gaps regards rowland

Roland, hope you are still searching the the photo’s of XHB 461T for me, as you have already said Roland what a motor, spent many a happy holiday it the old girl with your brother kelvin, happy days. UTX783S did belong to Hicks transport orginally dad brought UTX783S and UTX784S from George Hicks in 1981/2 not quite sure, both transcons carried on doing middle east work.

UTX783S did end up doing the MOT and shunting down TIP,s Cardiff but I sure even its late stage in life it was capable of days work and remember one cold winter morning using it to start two of the Comptons Volvo,s in the yard at bedwas

783 was a reliable old bus and i am sure that the engine was never touched on this motor not bad for a vehicle that spent 5/6 years on the middle east and then did locals around the uk until 1988.

will try and post some photos of the old girls in their glory days

I only got this 1 shot again late 1988. I knew him as Gary from Barry, surname possibly Sansome??. Traded as J Spanner which was his partners name. I think this used to go to Turkey for Cardiff International. It may spark a few memories.

We were worried Rich, particuarly as the ink was not quite dry on your licence at this tender age…

Don’t know any better place to ask but here, so I’ll try.
Going through some old stuff I started to recall some trucks I used to see around that stuck in my mind, though I never managed to take a picture of them. One would be a GB plated Transcon that I used to see regularly in Piestany, Slovakia, in mid-late 1990s. Red tractor (possibly tag lift?), 2-axle stepframe box van, plain white (and dirty). I don’t think there was any company name anywhere, possibly an o/d. The guy usually had a lady with him. Very unusual truck back then (more so now!). Any ideas who, piccies…?

Billy kings old ford, now resting up in my warehouse in south wales

Get stuck in Rich. It would be great to see it revived. Best of luck and thanks for posting, Ade.
