here are a few pics of the G&B Finch and Blue one that was posted earlier.

this old girl is for sale, although will need a fair bit of tlc!!

this was a bit beyond help, but had been a doner for this one

this old gem was working up until a couple of years ago (not seen it since so guessing its gone?)

it was the replacement for a blue one the guy was running on dfds

could only get a pic of the back of it, and it was alongside an ex g&b finch transcon

and finally, this wrecker is a picture i brought somewhere

wasn’t that the one he sold on his very last trip out ? i vaguely remember a 4 page spread in what used to be trucking internation mag . i thought it was a great read , & also thought he looked like hulk hogan , or am i getting confused but then i was very young

That pic brings back memories of when Birds Eye had a factory in my home town Eastbourne. Used to see many transcons in and out of there. I helped move the machinery to Gloucester when it closed mid-eighties.

To my knowledge there are no more than 5 Transcons left in Holland, that is apart from imported ones

right, so i have been given these pictures by a workmate and he said i can share them. these are from 1984, and if i remember rightly they were used on a ford tour where they provided the trucks, and despite being the biggest cab roger had ever been in, they were not allowed to sleep in them but were sent to a hotel every night! (on a later tour they had day cabbed cargos, and they had to sleep in them!!!)

a youthful roger at the wheel!!

what weight limit/congestion charge/parking restrictions!!!

The truck in question, showed this to Chinky on monday night on a night out together & he got all sentimental started reminissing about the ol girl! he also started cracking open more n more beers as we talked, Nev got rid of her in about 2004 when he started on Birds & i believe it has sat in the same scrap yard in Bedford ever since, working with the od git tonight will tell him wots goin on with her!!

When I went to France to see an F16 last November there was a mint 385 Turboliner cab sat on it’s chassis with no engine or gearbox, it’d cost a good few quid to get it back here but I recon the cab could’ve been bought for a few hundred Euro’s.

I am not sure whether a cab transplant would be an easy option. My mate put the panels off a Renault 340 on this P reg one.

I know a few people that have fitted Renault ‘R’ cabs, some (Chris Hooper included) fitted R series foot brake valves instead of that stupid cable to the valve on the front of the battery box. I think the cab swap (especially given the condition of the one I saw) to a mint rust free example would bring the added benefit of the brake conversion doing away with ‘that’ cable!!

If it were my Transcon, that’s exactly what I’d be doing with it but being the lazy git I am I bought a rust free Volvo to ‘restore’.
