Ford Transcontinental

This is VKN 45X pictured a few times on this thread, Kenny Snooks wife Yvonne is in the passenger seat, mine was the F89 parked next to him although I did drive 45X for a few months back & to to Greece.

I know that my dad would agree with me on this one - EHJ562T was the best motor that he ever owned.
Those chaps down at ■■■■■■■ in Grays loved tinkering with it.

It went like a train Churchyboy just stopping it could be a problem!

The Chinkytrotter.

EHJ 562T stuck in the mud in Hungary with a full load of tyres from Rumo.

Loading melons in Greece.

Blimey!! Wiesels! He was a friend of my old guv’nor, they were somewhere near Coulsdon or Whytleafe were’nt they? I had some brake linings repaired in their yard once. What ever happened to them?

The White Transcon taken in Chieveley Services, Newbury. The Cannons was “Fuzzies” wagon, I drove her a couple of times, it was like driving a block of flats compared to my own Volvo F7. When they got rid of her, they gave Fuzzy a Volvo “Wendy House” FL10! He nearly topped himself!!

Kin trailer looks a tadge overlength driver !!

Just found this old brochure amongst my hundreds of mags.

As long as he waits until it gets dark he will be alright! Might make the Link-span groan a bit though!

Hi Brookie, reference Wiesels, yep, remember them well, knocked on their door a few times about a job but nothing going. They were in Whyteleafe on the right as you went down the A22 towards the M25, think its where Anne Summers now has or used to have its distribution warehouse!!!

From memory they only had a few motors or trailer’s and used to do mainly Austria but I am probably wrong there. Think they used to run MAN`s as well. Dont know what happened to them though.

Hi Bullitt,
Yes Anne Summers do have their place there, my Mrs works for them. Bet you would like a job their now!!

The Anne Summers deliveries were all done in plain red transit vans…stood out like a sore thumb!!!

Not a bad little job by all accounts, delivering plain, unmarked packages to bored housewives!!!

If you know the area there is a fair mix of properties, huge expensive ones around Whytleafe,Coulsdon,Shirley Hills area and then you have the New Addington Estate,at one time the biggest council estate in Europe (alledgedly) and full of single mums!!!

Not sure how many multi drops actually got done on that job!!

Sorry for hijacking the Transcon thread people.

30years on they still look the biz . my dad had an “s” reg from new for 3 years & i couldnt wait for school hols to go with him . Even the ■■■■■■■ seemed to sound better than in did in brit trucks . Real shame they stopped making them :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Chris Webb:
Hi flysheet, any idea where that Transcon picture was taken? :sunglasses:

Hello Chris it was taken at the top of the Brenner Pass in Austria around 92 I think. Pity I left the door open letting the cold in!
