How much beer? With the amount of polish beer available in the local shops it is a great brew
4x trucks - which nationally? Brits?
Thats been going in for a few years now, a lot of paddy’s been doing it. I don’t know what it involved but I believe it was some kind of tax scam. Pro!bably similar to the mobile phones and “household goods” scams that we were all doing 6 or 7 years ago, an artic would take maybe 6 pallets of mobile phones out to Paris, get cmr signed and write a new one out for a place just outside Dunkirk, get cmr signed there and write a new one out for where you loaded in Birmingham. The goods never actually left the trailer!
There were a lot of firms doing it at the time including Stobarts.
full loads. usualy brit n irish reg trucks mainly old trucks so no heart ache if thay loose em

it’s usually uk, and irish registered lorries.
it’s been going on for years, one driver gets through then hands the paperwork to another, then another, and so on. then tax is paid on one load out of three to five.
it’s been spoiled by some gobby drivers. they brag about how many they’ve done, and how much they’ve made.
it’s not worth it any more.

That’s a scandalous thing to say…
A good 15 years ago I worked for a well known foreign company with red trucks. We had a particular run that took us from Mechelen( Belgium) to the Manchester area with washing powder…
Load Mechelen-Tip Manchester.
Load Manchester-Tip Mechelen etc…
If you were on this run all week, then you never accually unloaded the trailer, just dragged the same pallets around all week. Only the paperwork changed…
As Limey says been going years those at it where a regular sight at thurrock, too much to drink and loose lips sink ships comes to mind.

there were also at least 50-60 Sprinter vans doing the same on a nightly basis
Same as the great copper pipe caper too
When my dad working out of S.Irlande my dad spent a month with another guy loading Butter in Kerry out to Holland change trailers there, then back to S.Irlande tip Dublin back to KERRY empty and start all over again loading for Holland. All this was in the 70,s also know of a farmer exporting his cows from S.Irlande to N.Ireland by just walking them from one field to another

Back then there was a lot of livestock walking around at night, truck sheep north during the day and walk back at night, the export subsidy was such that after 4 nights you had the price of the sheep back and were in profit.

There were loads of tax insentives back then. Export bonuses, and Import bonuses.
Bananas were a good one. Exported from the Republic to wales, Imported to N Ireland, Then exported to the Republic. Just told customs it was down to the sizes. The crazy thing is, Since when did Ireland grow bananas?
Barley was another, A bloke only got caught when it started germinating in his trailer.
I park a lot at a certain place and there is definatley some sort of scam going. All the drivers are very cagey and all run old tackle, as soon as it hits 8pm they fire up and are off. There’s normally a fella in an English reg car knocking about with them as well.
English reg merc per chance?
