Indeed you are entitled to your opinion if you think that then thats your choice! Most people hit back on here from jealousy as i have been lucky and driven what they will only ever dream about! Yawn you really are quite boring now.Whatever you choose to say on here doesnt effect me at all so carry on winding yourselves up

Nice working pic’.
Hi everybody, nice to see one of my old fleet on here. Picture shows S20 Foden XVY102 enroute from BOC Airco at Edmonton London to Charles Roberts Horbury near Wakefield. The load is a cryogenic rail tank made by BOC in London and transported to Horbury by road to be fitted to railway running gear at Charles Roberts. This was a regular contract that Elliotts undertook for a number of years, similar vessels were produced by Butterfields of Shipley and they too were moved by Elliotts to Horbury to be finished off by Charles Roberts ! Happy days.
Regards Tony H.

I used to work for a firm that ran 143 and 144 scanias alongside foden 4000s with 14 litre ■■■■■■■ engines and a scania would struggle to keep up let alone leave one behind and I’m a big scania fan.
Brilliant driveline ■■■■■■■ or cat with a fuller box just the cabs let them down.

Real drivers could cope with the iffy cabs though; We didn’t need to take a pay cut to drive the flash motors

No paycuts for me and I’d have no qualms about driving anything if the job suited.

He is a Big Trucker dont ya know!!!
He has driven 580 Scanias with Syncro boxes and FH16 Volvo`s with automatic boxes, all the big power motors which we are all desperate to have a go in apparently!!
And when he says Fodens are no good, you`d better believe him because his Dad told him so !!
What a ■■■■!!! I have done more miles climbing in and out the ■■■■■■ cab FFS!!
Oh and by the way, I have been an owner driver and owned one of the nicest 143 500s you will ever see, plus a Left ■■■■■■ 470 Mack powered Magnum, and have driven a 580 Topline T cab. Does that put me in the top Truckers club with you■■?
I bet your one of them boring C***s who sits in the Truckstop cafe at night with a Scania or Volvo jacket on telling everyone how you
ve just done a one hitter from the other side of the world.
Just remember, alot of the old boys on here were in Baghdad when you were still in your Dads Bag!!
Firstly i dont own a truck jacket its a job for me and secondly i dont go in truckstops or do nights out anymore!I used to like trucks when i was a kid but after about a month of driving them that wore off now i hate them. You seem to think you know about me but your just another clever b…d who can mouth off over the internet.I dont claim anything because i dont need to.I think the 143 was the best truck made but i dont expect anyone to agree with me,you lot seem to think everyone should agree with your opinions but you wanna get a life. What have i driven? A scania 124/400 manual, volvo fm 420 manual, renault premium 420 manual, renault premium 450 auto, volvo fh 460 manual, magnum 480 auto, magnum 480 chipped to 520 mack engine manual, mercedes megaspace 460 manual,m.a.n 440 auto and m.a.n 480 manual all on bulk tipper work.Volvo 520 auto and 610 manual on bulk powder tanks.Volvo 580 manual on low loader work.Daf superspace 530 on roro trailers.Scania 144/580 and 580 r series on livestock.Current truck mercedes 460 manual.the one down from the megaspace on bulk tippers. So as you can see i have been lucky but i have also driven some heaps.I never comprimised money to drive the big trucks unlike some do or i would have taken the livestock job full time. Most people do slag off someone who has been fortunate enough to drive a big scania because they have never had the opportunity. If you dont like it or my opinion then tough t…s get in the real world and this post should never have been started if you cant cop with someone not agreeing with you.If you like fodens thats upto you but i wouldnt expect you to like something just because i do.Seems to me someone doesnt like it because someone had a truck that would leave fodens standing well get a life get in the real world it happens!
hello bud143.
not wishing to get in the ring on this topic,i must check if you got the144/580 correct or should it be 144/530.it is obvious by your latest contribution that you have a lot of numbers and variants to hand and the 144/580 maybe incorrect.
kind regards graham.

It was a 52 plate 580 if that helps. No badges on it except painted 580 at the top.Its one of grasbys of hull motors an ex adamsons i think.
hello bud 143,
no probs, probably a 164 /580.think they turned 144 to 164 around 2001,if i am wrong some kind soul will soon tell me lol. .
graham.
Not a great pic but I was pleased as punch to get this one as the old ■■■■■■■ the left was my first and the one on the right which was about a year old by then was Dads’ last rigid before going onto artics. Mine had the Cat 300, Dads’ a Cat 395. that extra 95bhp made a difference when we ran together up the hills of the Fosseway to Smiths Concrete Stratford Smiths had taken this motor off the road for use as a dumper but gave it to some newbie to “get used to”. Quarry staff finally killed it after it was retired by driving it around with the diff locks on…and not realising it had a crash box.
