Or This one??

yes just like that one jimbo …

while the rest of the silly old ■■■■■ sqabble like schoolgirls i’ll ask you instead .

did you ever get it finished ? you never came back with an update :grimacing:

She`s not far off now, going for the chassis sandblasted and primed in the next few weeks, then the fun can begin with aligning the doors properly, stripping everything down and lots of small filler repairs before she goes for her new paint job which will be in the same light blue metallic as the pic shows.

Ps, volunteers welcome to give me a kick up the arse or help / advise with bodywork repairs, also has anyone had to fix floppy door tops on a 4000 before■■? Cheers, Jim.

Couple of Foden’s

roger’s fod - trac power and bling!! see this often it makes a fast trac look expensive and silly!!

There`s another 2 of them Fod Tracs in Buxton, all owned by the same Farmers and registered as agricultural tractors, one is a 3335 6 wheeler with a double drive back end (335 tx and a 9 speed fuller) there is another 4 wheel drive one which is a 2210, and the one pictured in this thread which has a 10 litre ■■■■■■■ and a 9 speed Fuller, this one was a 6x6 but was converted to a 4x4.

They were all made by Swan Commercials at Hindley Green and were all stored on my mates farm. They were fitted with tipping hydraulics, pick up hitch and 3 point linkages. We had loads of fun putting loaded dump trailers behind them and then taking them over the wet stubble fields to see if we could get them stuck (we got stuck lol). They were made as a cheaper alternative to a Fastrac but have twice as much power and can fairly romp along. Anyone got any more pics of these??

Floppy door tops eh? You must be reffering to Fodens patent air con system, very simple and draws no power from the engine, their was a special tool to get the required gap but I found that as long as you could get two fingers through it to signal goodnight to the gaffer then it was set about right!

Seriously, if you remove the door panel you can get to the screws that retain the window frame, loosen them and pull the frame inwards. You may have to move the door hinge in slightly to get a better fit.

Pete.

chassis sandblast you say ? the company i work for has just started sandblasting if you need some help with it , they’ll charge of course but you never know .

p.s the brothers who own the company are both old school so a foden would go down well with them …

Cheers, hey Im still needing a couple of original round ally fuel tanks if you see any on your travels, these Fodens dont come along very often at Walsh & Deardens nowadays and Im finding that the breakers that do have bits are wanting big bucks for them.

Heres a Foden , ■■?> Half Foden half Seddon Atki, It was designed by a freind of mine The late Brian Patterson from Aberagie Perthshire, the axles and the rear chassis were S/A. The rest Foden, Brian was a genius of a bloke, he could make anything, His two sons now run the company which includes mobile cranes. Regards Larry.

This ones parked in a shed on a farm near hertford where we tip on a regular basis.
I always have a mooch round her and sit in it when i get 5min :unamused:
Hats off to the lads that used to handle these is all i can say.
Still a class act in its self tho’.
One thing puzzles me is, i always thought the early foden mickey mouses had 150 gardners in  .

That looks like an ex Breedon and Cloud Hill Foden to me, if so it MIGHT have later been owned by Paul Hyman (an Ex Cloud Hill driver) who would have re-engined it like most of his heavily modified Fodens? Paul and his family now run a travelling fairground and attend a lot of Steam Rallies with it.

Pete.

We have the Ex Kendrick’s of Walsall S21 tipper that used to be owned by Paul Hyman. I am interested in you saying he re-engined most of his Fodens. We ahve heard rumours that ours may have a 180 Gardner in it rather than the 150 but do not know for sure - and i have to say, it does seem to have a lot more poke than others i have seen/driven. Do you know this waggon, and if so do you think it will have been re-engined? I suspect it probably will have!

Hi there, I dont know Paul personally but I recall that he ran a S39 cabbed Foden 8 wheeler that he fitted with a Gardner 230 Turbo! He modified his trucks to suit himself I think. One easy way to tell a Gardner 150 from a 180 is that on the cylinder head the 180’s had extra head studs, if you look at the rear or front of the heads there is a smaller 1/4 whitworth spanner sized stud and nut between the two 7/16th size ones on the 180 LXB which the 150’s didn’t have. The engine number should be stamped on the top of the crankcase near the left hand front cylinder block holding stud, near the compressor, and there should also be a number on a plate on the front half of the injector pump. At the end of the day Paul may well have had the pump ‘doctored’ with a stronger governor spring etc, a lot of 150’s went as well or better than the 180’s and later 201’s!

Pete.

Hiya …here we go how many mistakes can you make…possibly a gardner thats easy as it says gardner all over them.
maybe a 6lw120 or 6lx150…could be a foden diesel (stroker)is it a 5 speed or maybe a 12 speed we need to look for
the extra lever…ET thats sheffield reg…maroon paint under the broken badge could say richard johnson (ambergate).
