Foden Thoughts

Muckaway:
Paccar seriously need to consider resurrecting the Foden brand; That with a big Cat or ■■■■■■■ engine :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :sunglasses:

Quite agree with you Nathan, but I can’t see it happening.
Cheers Dave.

None of our Dafs or Volvos bought since Foden finished can touch our Alphas for tipper work particularly on tips.

ERF1:
Does anyone know anything about the prototype Foden that was built with the Daf XF cab and ■■■■■■■ Signature engine. The story goes that Daf persuaded Paccar not to develop it for production.

the boys up derbyshire way with red artics had a foden alpha and had a new 13ltr cat put in it  , think cat gave them the engine and a foden dealer up nottingham way done the conversion.
cant think of the name at the moment :unamused: :unamused:

Is this what you mean pal

Daf learnt their lesson watching what the Strato with a big ■■■■■■■ did to their UK sales. An XF cabbed Foden with a 625 ■■■■■■■ underneath it was the last thing they wanted to see on the road. Paccar of course have got to where they are by solid business practice and they knew that the already too frequent changes to the production tooling - the reason to “retire” Foden anyway - would only get worse if that thing was unleashed. I have it on good authority that two were made and quickly shipped off to Seattle.

Paccars assumption that all Alpha buyers would switch to CF Dafs doesn’t appear to be falling entirely into line either…happily. :imp:

This was the plan from Foden.

Saw these three today heading towards Dewsbury.

Paccar still hold the Leyland brand , how about an 85/95 series Leyland ( whatever ? Roadtrain / Marathon ) fitted with a Cat/■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ , and non sycro gearbox etc etc etc , I`am sure there would be a big demand in this country as well as abroad .

Would the same apply to the AEC brand? Perhaps Iveco could increase sales by bringing the Sed Atki badge back?

My old girl smoking like a Cat should yesterday :sunglasses:

16 litre 6LYT 350 turbo
Foden 4350 C979TVT at Malvern.

Yesterday i had the sad task to drive the last of our Foden Alpha 345 Tractor Units, on a Co-op delivery run to our Whitby store. This was last Foden remaining out of a fleet of about 18 Alpha Tractor units. Ironically it was the first Foden registered to the Co-operative Depot at Birtley when Brand new in August 2003. Reg No. NX53 BVA.

The dashboard display showed a Total of 1102213 kms

The truck will now be sold on to recycling firm for disposal.
These trucks have been worked hard, and well maintained throughout their working life, and it’s a testament of how tough, Foden Trucks really were!.
The Co-operative has just taken order of 20 new Scania P360 4X2 Tractor units as their replacements.

Phil.

Here’s a few more from down under, this first one is fresh out of the paint show with a new owner.

Only in NZ would you see this kind of line up.

I did a few shifts in these from the Alfreton depot, some had been converted to gas/diesel dual fuel. Did they get converted back to diesel only?
