Been a while since this thread had an airing, but thought I would show ya this!
Moved a bench out of my old garage the other day & found this board nailed on the back! I had it done in the '70s when I started, subbing transit work from them. I used to slot it on to the gantry frame behind the cab, so they wouldn’t keep stopping me on the gate at Birlec & B.R.D0
Cleaned it up a bit & now has pride of place, above the door of my workshop
Sad or what!![]()

Sadly he passed away, and the yard was sold for building ground. Cheerio for now.
saviem, can you remember cheslyn hay transport, they ran blue 8 wheeler atki’s.think they were in same yard as whitehouses ■■
No, sorry curnock, I remember Robinsons with the smart brown Atkinson`s, and coilers at Gt Wyrley, (opposite where the road out of Cheslyn Hay met the Walsall to Cannock Rd)
Oh, and Dennis Burton, had many deals with him on old lorries, lived in the old Mine Managers house, on the site that is now the industrial estate where John Raymond have their depot. Hardly recognise the area now!!! Cheerio for now.

Was that the same Whitehouse where Dave Parry ran his coaches from at Landywood?
Thats the one, Parries is still going and has a flash unit in Chslyn Hay.
Does anyone have any pictures of any of these trucks from Wyrley?
If I’m remembering rightly, they were thinking of packing it in, about 1980, & Dave (Parry) asked me if I wanted to take on his part of the yard, so he could move into their garage. I went, had a look & it was just what I wanted at the time, but then he said they changed there mind & decided to buy more motors!
Im sure they got more work as the open cast, and an other quarry opened in the area and that gave them more work.
Parrys is still going strong, Dave Parry wanted to retire and was looking for a buyer this year, or he was going to wind up the company but the staff and customers have persuaded him to carry on and he has just brought some new coaches
Yeah, I did see that in the local paper up there, (not sure how! ) think it might have been in the Shropshire Star, father in law has that sent down every day still!
Thought it a bit odd at the time & still couldn’t work it out when he retracted!
Still, I expect Wolves Speedway will be happy if he can keep sponsoring them!

Glad to hear that Parry’s is still carrying on.A high profile company with a top notch reputation. Word was that
Dave Parry would not sell the company as a going concern because of worries about his high standards not being upheld.
