Final resting place for trailers

There’s a trailer storage / graveyard over at Carrington (A6144) nr Manchester, right beside the Airport Car Parking area. I think it’s still owned by T I P Trailers, I used to go in there quite a lot to collect / deliver trailers when i was working for TR trailers Birkenhead.

Cheers

Last time I was in the TIP storage yard in Carrington there must have been hundreds of trailers in there, very strange walking round as the trailers blotted out all the wind and noise

Your not kidding. Just had a look on Google earth and there just be thousands stacked side to side :open_mouth:

I think because of the way TIP finance trailers, they park good kit up there along with the end of life and scrap kit. A lot of the good trailers have come of a long term contract, they may stand for several years waiting for the next long term deal to turn up, dust down and back into service.

It’s suprising how they can stand decent trailers for so long

couple of pics from a farm last week…

looks like a demountable drawbar with a tank on top being used to collect rainwater from the gutters,

I know that theres a ‘resting place’ for trailers in Knottingley, which is owned by T.I.P. Its filled with old Prestons of potto, Mcfarlane and plenty of old tankers there. I’ll see if i can go get some pictures to put on here. :grimacing:

I take it this would have ran double wheels per axle side when it was in use?

an old sainsburys trailor

I managed to get one on saturday of the ‘grave yard’ for all the old trailers.

they dont look half bad, ive pulled worse

Ive pulled a lot worse

Some of them trailers look neat !

Notice the flour one in the far corner along with a TDG chemicals one

Ive pulled worse at work, at x-mas are company pulled in a load of old rusty old 1998 fridges to cope with christmas rush

They don’t look bad in photos there not knocked about, but I bet there not so good if you got under them, and had a good look around the running gear.

Hi boys
Here is a old Carrymore trailer I saw yesterday near Market Drayton. Not quite resting but converted to farm use.hows that for a overhang.

anyone know why was there an old air clock on the front spring hanger

I don’t know it’s age but it has ror 6 bolt hubs so could be as old as early 70’s

and finally near Stafford a good job for an old trailer, being made into a bar

Regards Keith

dessert driver, was the last photo in Stan Robinsons yard?

had that farm trailer had some axles removed, hell of an overhang!

hi boys
Yes Stan Robinsons by his new testing station. and yes that trailer had had the rear axle removed by the marks on the underside of the I beams. It looked as if it had had side boards at some stage.

Regards Keith
