Good thread this.
I’ll bet this ex Wincanton shed is rested by now.I’ve shunted it many times at Maltby and I think it was Neil46 who put it on Trucknet about four years ago.Taken in Iraq it would have had a hard life, god knows it got some hammer out of Maltby in the 90s,what a shed, best place for it,Iraq.

One of Calor transports of stoney stantons old trailers, at rest on a farm nr rugby…

Another of Calor Transports gas bottle carrier trailers, laid to rest… !

^^^Looks in pretty good condition on the surface

Doesnt look too bad but its a tandem axle on twin wheels and it doesnt appear to have an ABS socket, would think its uneconomic to upgrade probably cheaper to buy a new trailer.

saw this one today at the feed mill I load at regularly…

Cant see the point in using it for storage when they never shut the curtains to keep out the weather!

The trailer number on it is MFL126 I think, cant place the company that used to own it

oh no more photo’s of crap to fill my PC up with   will keep an eye out for these unsung hero’s on farms now , gawd knows i’ve seen enough , & never taken any notice of them :frowning:

Check this place out on google earth. Its quite a sight just the amount of tackle

Agreed, great thread!

I was only thinking of that Rush Green place this week. About 20 years or so ago when I was in my early teens, I took a trip over there with my mum and dad and a family friend that I used to do a Saturday job for. He ran a couple of Leyland Marathon’s and went over to pick up some bits for one of them, and we all just went along for a nose. Was an amazing place! We spent most of the afternoon there! Funnily enough, in my later life as a driver, I went to the farm next door to load wheat (probably about 10 years or so ago (Christ, where does the time go)) iirc the farm was part of the same ‘empire’, there were trailers, cranes and trucks all over the shop. Unfortunately I rarely used to cart a camera around with me in those days (which regularly annoys me!).
We have five old single axle curtainsiders at work used for storage, I’ll get some pics of those up on here next week.

I had to park next to that trailer last week when I was at Aston Mill, place was full of other trucks waiting to tip. There used to be a firm from Co Durham called MFL, cant seeing it being of theres as they did mainly continental work, tri axle 13.6m.

Am I the only one who looks at these old trailers parked up in fields and wonders what it would be like to back a unit under and take it for a drive :stuck_out_tongue: Wondering if they would just hook up and go with no problems after 10years sat there

would you pull the king pin off the trailer first or leave the the wheels and axles where they were.

at the garage where i used to work, there was an old 40ft trailer, no wheels, both axle on the ground, landing legs lopped off, fiberglass roof, sheet metal, sides, wooden floor, and wooden roller doors. can’t remember what the name was on the side, it got cut up about a year ago.

I’d love to get in their yard with a camera. Probably wouldn’t be enough hours in a day haha

Sure i read the owners don’t let folk on with cameras unless your buying something…

Wonder how they make a living? surely cant be much of a market for gear as old as they have

Not sure. The picture was taken at Peterhead docks if that shed’s any light

This is resting in our yard now. Was last used about 2 1/2 years ago, should be an easy restoration for someone…

They still use these, used for moving fish and fish guts. The yellow bulker would have belonged to UFP … United Fish Processors i think it stands for.
