No, only daily rest periods can be interrupted.
If the daily rest period is going to be extended into a weekly rest period it can still be interrupted, but the interruptions must be within the 24 hour period from the start of the shift.
In other words only the part of the rest period that counts as a regular daily rest period can be interrupted.

A regular daily rest period is a regular daily rest period no matter whether it’s being extended into a weekly rest period or not, as you know a daily rest period has to be completed within the 24 hour period, and you know a regular daily rest period can be interrupted.

You have to get a pass from the freight gatehouse to walk out and back in again.
Make sure you’re wearing a hi viz when you get to the gatehouse or they’ll turn you around to get it before they issue a pass and let you out.

Nowhere do the regulations say you cannot have a regular weekly rest period away from home or base.
What you’re referring to is the fact that the regulations do not allow for a regular weekly rest period to be taken in a vehicle, to the best of my knowledge and from what I’ve heard from people who do Euro work, this is something that is ignored by every driver, every enforcement officer and every regulatory body in the whole of the EU.
ROG if this discussion was about the working time regulations you would have been the first to qualify your statement with the fact that no-one actually gives a [zb], so why not also qualify your remark on this subject

Rog, I remember you used to get flamed on a regular basis from a former Coffee drinking TN member regarding your knowledge of Drivers Hours Regs!! Maybe a good rule of thumb would be that, unless you are absolutely, totally sure that the statements you make are completely accurate and true, then STFU!!!
Im sure you wouldn’t want to hear that someone took your well intended, but misguided advice, then got their collars felt by the Ministry! no offence meant, but a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing!
