Anybody on here worked for them?
Anything good to report from their CB channel recently?

No, but I see them a lot at West Burton power station and they all seem a friendly bunch, also been in their yard a few times and been treated well by the weighbridge/yard staff.
That big mahoosive mountain of gypsum of theirs isn’t going unnoticed.
Do you think the company will survive once the available space is all taken up?
I’m just wondering if it’s a prerequisite to be an absolute [zb] behind the wheel?
I’ve seen some terrible driving in my time, but Fernwood Transport exceed all my misexpectations on a daily basis.
I have a vague idea of what their pay and conditions are like from listening to them whining like little girls on the CB… but I’d like to hear it from the horse’s mouth.
What’s it like to be a Fernwood driver?

You may well
, but I assure you it is NOT a laughing matter !
Someone is on a good £ earner stockpiling that mountain, when the earning is finally finished, some folk suspect that the taxpayer will be left to foot the bill !
In the meantime, the directors of Fernwoods home addresses have been noted by the kind of environmental terrorists that bath such scum in acid.

I don’t know, I haven’t seen Mount Watnall.
I have got in their way though, much to their dismay, whilst they’re trying to build it.
Why are they stockpiling it? I assumed it was going straight to East Leake or somewhere?

They may be storing it there so they can keep the work out of the power stations■■?

They’ll be lucky to still be allowed into the power stations the way some (most) of the drivers go on.
I’d love to hear from a Fernwood driver.
Why do you risk your own licence, safety and the safety of others in order to make somebody else rich?
If your CB chatter/whinging is anything to go by, you’re certainly not making yourselves rich.

Gypsum, as in the by-product from Ratcliffe and Drax power station, thay obviously haven’t found a big enough market for it, and so will be stored their at the tax payers expense, just like any other “green” initiative!!

Their driving style hasn’t changed in the last 20 odd years, how have they got away with it for so long? Who knows!
They were up their with the other bulk cowboys from the area, but were the big 2 cleaned up their act, Fernwoods seem to have just carried on as normal!

Their drivers call the B6009 between Watnall and Hucknall ‘The Runway’ because it runs past the Aerodrome at Rolls Royce.
speed limiters seem abit generous aswell ive never passed one lol
I always thought gypsum was a naturally occuring mineral of a quartzite derivation as mined at Fauld and Kirkby Thore by British Gypsum and as transported by my dad in his tipper many moons ago whilst I rode in the passenger seat.
Do we now have a manmade gypsum too or are we actually talking fly ash and clinker here?
It’s a byproduct of coal-fired power stations.
forgot about difference in coal generating plants in uk.from Ca.

Gypsum is also man made by spraying lime slurry through the furnace flues capturing the sulphur dioxide, drax has the biggest flue gas desulpherisation plant in the country, which goes to British gypsum, Radcliffe also has one which is what fernwoods will be storing.
They will be taking in the coal and the limestone.
