yes mate my dad had it new in 1974 we sold about 1983,84 to mick whittle who ran it for a couple more years

He will have bought a well looked after motor then. Is Janet still around? I used to speak to her quite regularly when I worked in the traffic office at K&M circa 1992-1995

yes janet alive and well ha ha,its my mum,we did a lot for k&M back then, when I first passed my test I went on mooorgreen to ratcliffe for K&M that be about 1995,would you be in office then??

Small world eh?! Give my love to your mum, my names Tony. I only served 3 years at K&M (April 1992 - August 1995) but enjoyed it all. Robert is still in the office there and George Rimington was still TM when I started. I still keep in touch with the office staff - I was still in the lottery syndicate until it wound down last year! A lot of the old school drivers there are sadly no longer around, but a lot of them knew what a decent days collar was about!

Always remember the dog (an Alsatian?) barking in the background when your mum was n the phone!!

Here you go Foden lovers: 1966 I started on this company.

hiya,
I remember Kendricks running a lot like this and that spare wheel in the
same place, I do recall one Monday morning at a services helping one of
their drivers change a wheel, (you wouldn’t see that these days), eh’
what a job for two men even, I’d just started out about an hour earlier
and I was as black as the proverbial crow, fortunately I was only doing a
job that would see me back home that night I had to change into my
going out gear to finish the shift lucky I always carried my overnight bag.
thanks harry, long retired.

Dan Punchard:
Anyone remember one of K&M s fitters a big bloke nick named wolf who was in to old motorbikes ?

Just checked with my mate who was in the garage there circa 1985 - 1988, but doesn’t ring any bells. Will ask one of the old-timers next time I call in.

Yes, the Foden Twin-Load. Harveys Sherry of Bristol had a couple at least, a tanker combination and possibly either a curtainsider or a flat (it was 45 years ago) they were for 32 ton Gross but the artic weights went up and so they didn’t catch on. Usually two stroke powered.

Pete.

I believe F & F Robinson had one or two of these Twinloads, and Foden ran some on the works fleet for a time. If i remember correctly, Robinsons kept the trailer once they stopped using the twinload, it had a special use, just cant remember what!

Can anyone help this poor chap out? It sounds like he’s doing sterling work, against all sorts of obstacles- most of them human!

For anybody that’s interested this is out of our local paper. It’s on the 24th April at the chimney house hotel, congleton road, sandbach. If interested it says to ring 01270 760575
