Thats right Carl, I sold it to Alan

Much better,thanks Ross.

If i was ever going to buy a lorry to restore it would have to be an Early Globetrotter :grimacing:

Couldn’t agree more, I’ve been looking for a nice ‘round headlight’ Globetrotter for years but settled on my second love as there are so few decent early ones about.

This is my 1994 LHD F16 500; (prob shouldn’t be on this thread as it’s not an ‘early’ one, & not an F12 at all :open_mouth: )

Work just about to start on MOT & registration.

Ross.

Lol think i would settle for a F16 500

They totally sum up inter continental haulage from the late beginning of the 80s, the first cab you could stand up in and complete with kitchen pack and twin bunks who could want anymore

If i could have any classic truck it would be ORH ***W Brian Yeardleys first of many Globetrotters :grimacing:

Would you happen to know if that was the one on the Crossroads stand at the Great Yorkshire Show in summer 1981 please?

More than likely mate it did quite a bit of publicity

It was in comercial motor as one of the first globetrotters in the country
And i also remember it been the star of a parade in Hull to celebrate charles and dianas engagement

When i was a kid i so wanted my grandad to get a globetrotter(but he had an F7 lol)

Even if he could of worked for Yeardleys it would of been a dream come true(they had f7s too) :grimacing:

I couldn’t agree more, in my opinion it sums up international haulage. an absolute classic looking lorry. I would love to own one now.

Regards,

Mark.

Superb lorry in my opinion, benchmark for the cabs we have today. One of Syms D905 SHR

Some pics i have of Globetrotters for you.

Good to see B413 YWL in its original livery.

I rather liked the colour-coded look myself. Truth was, it was a quick respray, and it was easier to paint everything one
colour than to spend time masking-off! The local workshop I used did the lot, including signwriting, over a weekend. It went
in on the Saturday morning and was pictured having just collected the container, on the Sunday night.
Over the years, I did a few modifications to it, including a replacement bumper made from an RSJ and a “kitchen/store box”, which fitted under the battery-box.
I saw it once after I sold it, going round the M25. I wonder if it’s still out there?
