Is There any one who worked for or remembers Samship from Southend

the “albino” renault 290 of brains was driven by olly fisk - i’m told it was a motor show exhibit - hence the extras on it like the stacks etc

Dont know what wrong there but i dont stttuter

I started at the dagenham yard in 1976 shunting in Fords with a D700. I think there was only 2 of these the rest were D900,s most if not all ex Ford fleet. I was lent to the barking yard for a while on containers and general and managed to get a transfer after being told by the other drivers it would,nt happen. Then onto the g to j plate ERF,s and Mandator,s. In time i had a Marathon[in the fleet photo mine was 4th from the left 734R]. They almost finished and moved the last few back to Dagenham ,Basildon had also finished by the time. I was 1 of 8 drivers left along with fitters/office staff also 8. It closed down in 1984.
