With all respect…bear in mind that without the Americans, Canadians and British, we all
ended with German origins/makes of trucks, through many mergers now restricted to the
happy three and worldwide global players!
Not an ERF 5MW at all, but very similar to the exhibitioned twin steer in Brussels 1969.
Air-suspension was from the Dunlop-company.
NHK200 ■■■■■■■ (in stead of the Gardner’s one during 1968 Earls Court) and now with
David Brown…not very known on the continent, cab was 4LV-type.
Attached a picture of the cab-interior

Brilliant picture, En-tour-age! This is the first picture I have seen that shows the full interior of the 5MW cab. Now we can see, for the first time on these threads, how significantly higher the engine hump is when you compare it with the 7MW cab. This is a good breakthrough. Cheers! Robert
AND, just look how thin that mattress really is…I always used to say to the design engineers at Venissieux…“do not go home, work for a few hours more…then go to sleep in your underwear, without washing, and without a meal…on what you propose as a bed”!!!
Had zero takers, and many complaints at the “roast bouefs” aggressive language!!!
And in the UK I never even had a response from those morons at Seddon, regarding their European!!!
Engineers/designers…I have no time for their world of theory, without practical experience…
Sorry Robert, way off thread…
Apologies.

Yes, that mattress is scary! But doesn’t one peep inside that cab just make you want to climb in and fire her up! Robert

Oh dear…Yes of course it does!!!
Nighty night!
I found among my treasures a number of downloaded pictures of what looks like a 4MW cab restoration project. It isn’t clear whether it is LHD or RHD, but the pictures give an excellent indication of the way in the cab is constructed. I can’t remember where I got them from, so apologies to the photographer. Robert
The rest…
Nice pictures, with good insight on how created! The pictures are from ERF European page 4
as [zb]Anorak did this marvelous input, explained by 3300John and it is now on the ‘right’ thread!
Good to focus again! Where did this cab went? Perhaps for particpant ERF to chase for a 5MW?

Morning Alexander! Yes, I notice that on P4 is a link to Flikr, which is where I must have gone my pics in the first place! I notice in one of the Flikr pictures there is a modern van in the background so the pics must have been taken fairly recently. It also says that the cab was sold before completion, so there is no indication of where it ended up. Robert
This 1:76 scale kit of an ERF 5MW was on ebay last year, so someone must be making them… Robert

I’m not certain, but i think this was the new cab built for the ex Leicster Heavy Haulage 135ton MW. I think this lorry was sold at the Ken Thomas sale some time ago. Would like to know who had the motor and wether it will ever be finshed??

Well, just in case, here’s a picture of one of Leicester’s big 4MWs. Robert
They got bloody good service from that old Bruiser, done years of internal shunting & moves after eventualy coming off the road, always thought it really looked the part, the " It’ll tackle anything" look.
Chris.

Hey En-Tour-Age, looks well for it’s time, pitty no tilt cab and only a Bostrom for the driver.
The inside of an F88 was not much better, only no dirty fitter hands inside .
Cheers Eric,
Hey, Pitty that it wasn’t restored in it’s Original LOWE colours and lettered.
Of course everyone’s choice, but it was common sight in the old days.
Cheers Eric,
