ERF 'European' (1975)

At last (and blimey how quick!) I have just received my copy of charge Utile 206 from France. It seems that Loste had three Pacifics, and yes (bingo!) one of them bears the same registration as the red Sitca ERF-cabbed unit. So now we know that 3756BT59 was the registration number of the 8?MW-cabbed Pacific of Loste and that the lorry passed on to Sitca. Another little problem solved! Robert

That mag came quick ! Good to tie that up.

Not a very good pic,one of Groenenbooms.

Gott in himel, herr Dean! Another new picture. I wonder if this shows 06-09-TB as another of your pics showed it with a flat trailer loaded with pipes. Robert

Not sure if this is a new picture on here ?

Rob,yes can confirm vehicle 06-09-TB is the vehicle in the pic as reg no 12-97-FB does not have a sunvisor fitted.

This is an entirely new picture, Dean! Thank you for posting it. This unit was the only one of the Vijore six NGCs to have the combination of NTC 290 / 13-speed Fuller, the other five having NTC 335 / 9-speed Fuller. Robert

Good observation. Thanks for the clarification. Robert

The picture of Rene’s truck with the future KCH on the trailer reminds me that I have found access to the colour version of those pictures taken by Wobbe Reitsma during the original rescue operation. I won’t be able to share them on here, alas, but maybe I can tuck one or two in the next volume! Robert

Here de ERF loaded onto my 1972 Volvo F89, which did an outstanding job BTW. Note the spare doors, a couple of van Steenbergen’s and 2 more Marcel found on a breaker’s yard near Betekom. I think it’s the same yard where his Foden was shipped to after the accident.

Loved the detail about the doors. An excellent contribution: thank you Rene! Robert

This looks familiar:

It’s got the same protruding snout as a 7/8MW. Imagine it without its ice-cream van top and its wind deflectors.

I wonder what became of the spare doors. Perhaps Gary has them. Robert
