And here’s a better pic of the Loste Pacific, but alas no visible number plate.
I reckon it should be easier to see if we can find the registration number of the Loste Pacific and either match it or eliminate it from our enquiries. I would have thought that it was more likely that Sitca (if that was the right company) acquired the re-cabbed Pacific 2nd hand from Loste, than it is likely that Sitca also re-cabbed from ERF. Just my opinion! We’ll find out. Robert

The company of the 2nd picture is SITCA. I wonder if the other picture shows a Pacific in the same company. Here’s a clue.

Sounds like a plan !
I know pics of this lorry have appeared on here but i dont think this one has ? (MIght be in your book)
Pic taken by Rene Postma at Rotterdam.
If anyone has a copy of this French magazine, you might be able to make out the registration number on the Pacific. By the way, in the epilogue on the last page of this article it hints at a liaison with Sitca next to the picture of the Pacific. Here’s the article. There’s a page missing. Frustratingly, I used to have a PDF of this piece but I appear to have deleted it !Robert

Wow, nice one! I’ve not seen this before and that appears to be one of Rene’s lorries. The NGC on the trailer is, of course, the Eyckmann’s of Betekom unit that Rene rescued for preservation and passed on to the Corbishleys (KCH 95N). Thank you for posting it, Dean! Robert
The picture of Rene’s truck with the future KCH on the trailer reminds me that I have found access to the colour version of those pictures taken by Wobbe Reitsma during the original rescue operation. I won’t be able to share them on here, alas, but maybe I can tuck one or two in the next volume! Robert

I’ve just managed to buy a copy of Charge Utile No. 206 on ebay! So now we should find out the numbers with any luck. Robert
Well done Robert, lets hope that solves the plot !

Dean, these are just FABULOUS! OK here’s the background: the Dutch used to have a pre-registration number system to get the operator up and running with his lorry while the paperwork was being finalised. Groenenboom had two NGCs (to my knowledge). One was registered 12-97-FB and had the pre-registration N-11-20 as evidenced by your new pictures; and the other was registered 06-09-TB and had the pre-registration number N-11-48. The first one ended up with Trans Arabia in Jeddah. I love these pictures. If you can find any copyright names / photographer’s names attached to them I’d be grateful for any info because I have prepared a piece about this pair in Book 3 and frankly, these are better pictures than the ones I have at the moment! Gratefully yours, Robert!
Dean has kindly emailed me a further set of excellent Dutch photos which I’ll sit on for now because some are of quite high quality and might be used in Book 3. I will release them to this thread anyway in due course. He has certainly brought meaningful material to the table! Robert
Another possible clue as to why the Loste Pacific and the red ballasted tractor may be the same is the 59 suffix department number which is Lille. Robert
I popped Dean’s picture of the ballasted tractor on the Saviem thread to see if anyone could identify it. ‘Michel’ answered: Robert1952, the truck is an ERF from SITCA-COCHEZ from Aire sur la Lys (62) .
And he provided this picture of Sitca’s Pacific. This still doesn’t rule out the possibility that the ‘ERF’ is the ex-Loste Pacific. Robert
A word of caution! Book 3 is already in a pretty advanced state, but please remember that Book 2 only came out this spring. It’ll be some time yet before Old Pond will consider a third. One or two details such as new intelligence regarding the Hye/Cauvas/Van Driesshe 8MWs came just too late to be included in Book 2 (which had already gone for printing ). However, this and other new information will be accommodated in Book 3.
The time-scale isn’t a such problem, as it means I can continue with this project at a leisurely enough pace to ensure some higher quality information, writing and picture choices. Meanwhile, this project seems to be gathering a veritable ‘army’ of helpers who are sniffing out material in the most unlikely places. Keep up the good work, chaps!
No, this a new picture! I have pics of other NGCs in the same spot (Van Steenbergen had six). However, I can’t quite make out the fleet number or registration, but I can identify it as fleet No. 10 from the markings on the bumper and other cab details. Bingo! Its a good pic. Thank you. Cheers, Robert
At last (and blimey how quick!) I have just received my copy of charge Utile 206 from France. It seems that Loste had three Pacifics, and yes (bingo!) one of them bears the same registration as the red Sitca ERF-cabbed unit. So now we know that 3756BT59 was the registration number of the 8?MW-cabbed Pacific of Loste and that the lorry passed on to Sitca. Another little problem solved! Robert
