I’ve always liked the way ERF managed to fashion a sun-visor for the export version of the LV cab. Robert

Found this photo on Flickr, We had 3 of these ERF tractor units at Grangemouth on the Burmah contract. The drivers that were on them did not like them. I don’t think there were a lot of them on artic work.

Back in the '80s I drove this Rolls Royce 265 powered B-series with a 9-speed Fuller for United Glass. It was one of Robson’s of Carlisles left-over shunters that were ‘retired’ to Sittingbourne to serve the home counties. I think this one was ‘Border Olympic’, but it may just have been ‘Border Brutus’ because it was identical and I drove that one too. By the way, the ageing Rolls 265 was noisy, smelly and not particularly pokey, but it was magnificently matched to its superbly installed 9-speed Fuller, thus ensuring a very pleasurable drive. Even then, no one wanted to drive it (which is why, I think, I got the job) so who on earth would anyone want to drive one today? Answer: I would. Robert

Hiya Larry,a nice shot of an ex S & N dray motor, they used to have their garage near to where I grew up on Shap Rd. in Kendal and IIRC they were 3 man cabs (Driver and two draymen) they were always parked all over the place as they came back “■■■■■■■ every afternoon so I should have “nicked” one eh! they wouldn’t have missed one eh! I bet them little motors brought home them “■■■■ heads” on their own, a bit like having a faithfull old Nag in the shafts. Those little old 4LK’s used to sound like “sewing machines” Hope you had a good day out at Jacks Hill Cheers Dennis.
