There were a few around this area Dennis, mostly on the hay and straw job, Foden’s as well. I guess it was to avoid overloading the front axle?Pete.
Thanks for that Pete, but I bet they were a barrel of laughs in the fields when they were loading at times, they wouldn’t be able to move so far without a tractor yoked to the fron’t hitch ! Cheers Dennis.
I used work out of north western farmers with corbetts the chineese sixes were banned from delivering by a few farmers up noth wales for that reason .They were a factory built job seemed to have a new one each year

hiya,
Just wondering about this gas-powered ERF was it powered by a converted
petrol engine ■■, and how far did that huge fuel tank take it ■■, and where
did it get bunkered at when "down the road ■■.
thanks harry, long retired.

Dont know what happened to it harry , dad had to retire through a heart attack , then not long after WA Glendinning changed there name , then went bust …
remember dad used to complain like mad that the L.N.G bunkers were few and far between , but he used to lead out of Wavin in Langley moor to Durness on north coast of Scotland very often …
there may be someone on here who may be able to enlighten us , as to what happened to them [there was 2 of them ] ■■?
regards Duncan
Just seen a Gas powered ECX for sale on Ebay
States that the engine is a Detroit
BOC Transhield that did the M&S contract had quite a few ERF`s powered by LNG if i remember, as did
Safeway but they where Scania units.
Our LV cabbed ERF on the North of England Run (about 2000) Stuart Ritchie often loaned us this trailer for the NOE. On this occasion we were able to replay the favour when his two stroke Commer had a problem. Regards Kev.

Would that have been an authentic Jos.Millican tractor unit ? Going by the reg no.I would doubt it,plus I don’t recall Jossy’s motors having ■■■■■■■■■■ emblazoned on their fronts.Just an idle comment eh!.Cheers Dennis.

Millicans did have Liverpool registered motors, because they had shunters there. Their C-Series 6x2 shunter at Longtown was actually a Liverpool registered motor as well. I used to regularly collect my father from Seaforth when he was on late shift and we used to regularly see Millican’s Liverpool wagon doing changeovers at the weighbridge at Aughton on the A59.
This E.R.F. tractor unit was at the Carlisle Rally last weekend
Apart from the name " Miller" on the cab doors , I know no further details .
…maybe the Trucker Sleuth
■■■■■■■■ Gill can regale us with further information.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Millican’s also worked out of Yorkshire Imperial metals on the East Lancs rd at Kirkby Liverpool on a daily basis hauling copper cathodes and finished copper tube.
