Of course. The blokes who drive trucks are truck drivers, same as the rest of us. They do the same job as us and for the same reasons. If Government policy hasn’t been handled well then that’s hardly their fault.
I drive to Poland and when I am in Poland, my status is no different to a Pole in the UK- a truck driver abroad.
I have been on the receiving end of Polish racism- two teenagers with a baseball bat once tried, unsuccessfully, to attack me in Poznan. I have been spat at and sworn at. But I am talking about less than a handful of incidents in fifteen years. A tiny minority of Poles are small-minded racist morons with nothing to be proud of apart from the place where they were born.
But the massive majority of Poles would help a Brit in need and vice versa and if V8passion would refuse to give a jump-start with his long shiny jump leads then the Polish truck driver he turned down wouldn’t have to wait very long before someone who wasn’t from Norfolk came along.
I hope you don’t mind me posting this but try and listen to this interview about what’s happening in the USA and what this guy Gerald Celente thinks will happen. There are similarities with the UK:

I’ll reckon your a liar !! I’ll bet you couldn’t produce photographs of jump leads in your box. I’m not saying there arn’t any but i never come across many drivers who carry jump leads . And the few who i have met who carry them arn’t selective over who they help, thats why they carry them…to help. Something doesn’t ring true here, but you could always prove me wrong

I do carry non-racist jump leads but I reckon you are right and this story about V8passion refusing an eastern European a jump-start at the BP at Kettering yesterday is a complete fabrication.
When you can’t start your truck because your batteries are flat, you don’t walk around asking for help, you simply take your battery cover off and lay it on the ground beside the battery box and someone will come along before too long asking you if you need a jump start. Well, that’s my experience in eastern Europe anyway.

i don’t think the issue here, is what any “of us” as you call it, think of our east european mates.
its more too do with how you portray yourself, and how, most, would choose too distance themselves from your beliefs, (beliefs you are entitled too, know matter if i agree, or disagree with them)
as this thread continues, a pattern forms, and people, make their own minds up.
i’m with the majority, i couldn’t give a toss where someone is from, if i can help another driver out, i gladly would. what goes around, comes around, and all that.

people like that v8 passion come and go on forums it would seem.they seem to derive some feeling of importance by being ignorant/controversial when really they just come across as attention seeking fools.its a pity they cant really offer anything useful or constructive that the other users would benefit from.as other people have said i doubt very much the jump lead story but if someone with not very much going on feels its makes them feel better then perhaps we shouldnt ruin his little fantasy world. and i hope this does not come across as racist but that pole orys makes a better go at english than v8 pass.

Same as I think now, eastern European truck drivers don’t decide Government policy. I’m sure none of them want to be in Heston Services tonight but they have wives and children to keep. They do the job for exactly the same reasons that we do.
I don’t have some fabricated ■■■■■■■■■■■■ fantasy about refusing to give a driver a jump-start at Kettering Services simply because he “waaaaarnnt baaarrn in Naaaaarrfolk” and I suggest you snap out of your inbred stupidity right now- you are giving the rest of us and your fellow countyfolk a bad name.
So V8 passion carries leads, and changes his batteries every two years to save the need for leads . Bit belt and braces isn’t it? Won’t need his leads to charge his battery, so probably uses them to tie back his tassled curtains.
As for his comments - if that’s what he thinks of foreigners then he is showing a distinct lack of decency,and more than a touch of outright racism, but has probably never been abroad in his truck.
What does it matter where the driver has come from - he is a fellow trucker in a bit of trouble and you are sat on your shiny ■■■■ with the means to get him on his way in 10 mins or less. Is it that much trouble to help him out?

may i ask how many of you, especially those in favour of zero immigration control, have been directly or indirectly affected by our governments immigration policy?
asking because up until last summer i was as liberal as the most liberal of you concerning immigration. i get on with people from other countries very well as a kid we used to provide a home to alot of foreign exchange students so you can imagine the values taught to me as a kid.
last summer i lost my job, after a few months of no luck finding a job i was on the verge of getting my home repossessed, fully expecting to soon be homeless i rang up my local housing authority to apply for a property.
from experience (2001) i knew the waiting list for a property even those deemed soon to be homeless would be atleast 6 months however when i rang up the nice lady told me i could expect a 3 ■■■■■■■ year wait at the minimum. responding to my expletive on hearing this (remember im stressed as ■■■■ no job soon to be no homeless) the lady explained the waiting list has increased so much due to the huge increase in immigrants registering for a property. i dug a little further into this and found out ‘asylum seeker’s’ would get a property before me, as would any nationality with kids even if they left there country having had a home in that country.
job wise i lost a very well paying job in 2004 due to it being outsourced to india but jobs were easy to find then thankfully.
to the liberals who have posted on here : i wonder if your opinion will be as liberal if you lose your job due to it being cheaper to employ someone from another country? will you think the same if you have the threat of having no home and no chance of getting one because there are 1000s of immigrants in the queue for housing in front of you.
i sincerely hope you are ok in this recession, i hope things get better and we can all live happily alongside each other.

Who says we have zero immirgration control? The company I work employs people from outside the EU and it isn’t just a case of them coming here and taking the job and these are skilled people. Even our racing driver who pay thier own way and pay for us to operate have to get work permits.
I read somewhere, but I’m not sure where, that a very few of the migrant workers have gone in social housing. The problem has more to do with asylum seekers who are not entitled to work than those who come over here to work. Also selling of council houses and then not replacing them doesn’t really help you or them.
As for losing jobs to foriegn workers, I used to work as a Digital Cartographer. In the begining it was new technology. big contracts from all the utility companies and the OS. But eventually the Indians and Romainians got in on the act and it became more difficult to get the contracts. So the works gone and I drive trucks. But this has happened for throughout history. Industires have come and gone and workers have moved countries to follow the work.
i agree with some things you are saying but, i am begining too hate living in uk now as there are too many misserable gits around unlike europe, i know the country is in turmoil but blame the goverment for giving all the free handouts and not looking after there own and not the people who want too work here, and if all the dole dossing scum got of there backsides years ago we problably wouldnt be in this situation now, so its back to the free money again.
