End of an era again on R2

Ahh right so you make assumptions rather than facts with no grounds or substance …again.

iv never been drawn to girls years younger but back in the 70s it seemed to be something that was yearned by many [perverts] such as lecherous old men in the carry on films etc . and of course the DJ fraternity .

As I said apart from Saville…who you liked :flushed:, they were all relatively young lads themselves…so again,.what was the problem?
Btw hate to break it to you but…
The Carry on films were not real.

i Absolutely know i heard stevo carooning around /letching after young girls on the radio back then. Thats why i think it was really suss he said nothing at the Saville enquiry. He sidestepped it

Ahh you ‘Absolutely know’ eh?
Oh well that does it.
I’m convinced.

ffs !
:joy::joy:

Lol knew this was coming as soon as old Wrighty was mentioned

Personally speaking I popped my cherry as a schoolkid with a woman who was twice my age (afterwards she wanted round two, I just wanted to go back to school to tell all my mates!) there started my love affair with older women. Problem now is that any woman older than me tend to be dry and dusty!

Quote Corji.
‘‘he was on radio 1 in the 70s .i know that as i recall a conductor on the school bus with him on the little radio he carried 78 at latest’’…

It seems like you ‘know’ f/all mate.
Like I said he joined R1 in 1980

i know a wrong un -and i know stevo was on radio 1 well before 1980 ,as a regular with his own show too blatantly blabbing on about young girls-if you cannot remember that youve got addled .Dont try to flannel me by saying “back then we were all at it mate” .
although i admit saville fooled me .

the saturday mornings ,now thats defo when saville had his old record club show too . How could they not have not interacted . Anyhoo who cares now iv had my say and youve had yours . JW wasnt involved

I aint got any intention of ‘flanelling’ you mate…you have no relavance for me to care tbh.:joy:
You have already been proven to be talking through your arse, not to mention making assumptions about me personallly with no grounds, so why should I take anything else you say with any credibility?
If you had something against Steve Wright, that is up to you, but at least back it up with actual FACTS if you are going to slag him off

All you young fellows, what are you like? My pop radio years were Radio Luxembourg long before all those came along. Jack Jackson, Pete Murray and the DJ BA Barry Aldis.

BTW Pete Murray is still alive at 99. :open_mouth: :joy:

My R.Luxembourg era was Bob Stewart, Dave Christian, Mark Wesley, Tony Prince and Paul Burnett and Kid Jensen…who both went to R1.
I used to listen to them on school nights in bed until I fell asleep.

Much the same for me in the '50s, but my school nights were in the dorm at boarding school and my mate, Pete Heather, and I were very keen on the latest sounds. We had trannies under the blankets (officially banned) and didn’t always hear the same things as we were in different dorms so would compare notes during the day. He was listening in the common room and shouted to me ‘listen to this’, it was the dramatic opening chords of Duane Eddy’s ‘Rebel Rouser’ instrumental, never heard anything like it.

We didn’t always agree though, he thought ‘Reet Petite’ by Jackie Wilson was the bees knees but I couldn’t see it that way. Now, I can sing the words all the way through every time I hear it on UK Gold, a brilliant station for those of us of a certain age. For a bloke whose memory is so faulty that a moment ago I searched for several minutes for the word ‘instrumental’, I can remember most of the words of those 70 year old hits on that station.

My R.Lux days were 70s.
There was a novelty record at the time they often played called ‘Caveman’ which was a bit ‘off the wall’.
You never hear it on the radio, but when I do it always reminds me of when either my Mam or Dad walked into the room and I would knock the radio off and pretend to be asleep.
In the morning the lads at schol used to recite the lyrics like…‘Her name was Bertha,.Bertha But, one of the But sisters’ :joy:
Ok you had to be there to get it.:joy:

Not everybodys cup of tea, not even mine, but it takes me back.:grin:https://youtu.be/BCV6paTXyCU?si=5yzMEhixdQ3qnMLg

I’ve just read the you tube comments,.seems us lads weren’t the only ones.:joy:
I had a strange childhood looking back.:joy:

See! Bloody rich public schoolboys got all the perks us poor ones didn’t! :joy:

And your adulthood hasn’t been? :joy::joy:

That is actually a good point mate.:joy:
