It seems I was correct and an outbreak of A.S.S. has occurred.
ABNORMAL STOBARTAPHOBIA SYNDROME
A research team today published a report on this little known phobia.
Prof. Strabotski said.
We have been looking at A.S.S. for a number of years now and have drawn some startling conclusions.
We studied a cross section of drivers who in public displayed an irrational hatred of E.S.L.
Among the extensive tests that were performed we hooked subjects up to medical monitoring equipment
and recorded their reaction to random images, when a image of an E.S.L. nature was displayed the subject
outwardly displayed violent anger but our equipment recorded high ■■■■■■ excitement bordering on ecstacy.
So how do we avoid getting A.S.S. ?
Prof. Strabotski said.
The first stage with any phobia is admitting you have a problem.
Some sufferers have found that reciting the mantra
I REALLY WANNA WORK FOR EDDIE over and over can help.
But if you have already suffered rejection by E.S.L. then you may have
become a full blown A.S.S. sufferer already.
Is there any support groups?
Prof. Strabotski said.
Yes meetings are held all over the country in R.D.C. waiting rooms, where victims of
A.S.S. can gather and exchange views.
These meetings can help with the feelings of having A.S.S.
Prof Strabotski has been nominated for the knobel peace prize for his research into A.S.S.
I’m a night Tramper for Stobbies at Aveley and us lads are not in any way like the handpicked “Mad Morris” or Mo is alright a little OTT but a good fella met him a few times at Crick.
Yes, I think you have to have somebody a bit OTT for a programme like this, I would be no good because from the moment they got into the cab I would just growl “Right, now just shut the [zb] up and let me get on with my job”
What jobs do "Eddie Spotters actually do? I know weirdos like that aren’t alllowed to work with children. I’ve no problem with photographers (most of us provide stacks for the threads on here) and I’m always polite when approached by people in the services or wherever (driving Fodens I suppose you should expect it, especially if they’re getting on a bit-the lorries I mean) but these knobs with notebooks-maybe the tankers as they’re rare but how can you get excited seeing another FH12 380 or whatever?
Was on the Glos-Warks steam railway last year, some tw8t was writing down the CARRIAGE numbers ffs!!!

Stobarts were only saved from going under a few years ago by their sleeping partners Tesco which i hope gets a mention in a later edition but i doubt it will.[/b]
Tesco had nothing to do with saving Stobarts, it was William & Tinkler who turned it round.

Andrew, there is a well proven saying “the graveyard is full of indispensible people”(and haulage firms) Dennis.

I doubt Tesco would struggle, they may have to spend more, which they wouldn’t like, but there would be plenty of people willing to do the work, DHL, DFDS etc, only thing is Tesco may not be able to call all the shots with someone else…
William and Tinkler need Tesco a lot more than Tesco need them.

Just picked up my copy of the Financial Times, can’t find your column anywhere moomooland
The arrangement between Tesco and Stobart is a good one for both parties, Tesco isn’t in haulage, they’re a supermarket, so they concentrate on keeping the shelves full of goodies and leave all the transport worries to a company that has the ability to manage it, sure there may be others that could’ve done it too, but Stobart got the work, Tesco are hardly likely to go bust anytime soon, so Stobart has regular income (cashflow) even the most cautious lenders would view them as a low risk, so they wouldn’t need to have a silent partner, the business they get from Tesco will more than cover the finance payments for the Tesco dedicated vehicles.
Anyway, everybody knows that Stobart gets their money from the Mormons
I’d be interested to know what the payment model is between Tesco and Stobart, I would presume that everything is agreed in advance and is not based upon being invoiced for individual journeys?
Jeez! I can’t beleive there’s 8 pages of crap about a crap programme featuring a crap company! I watched the first but I won’t be watching anymore! I’ve got paint drying here to keep me amused…

I’ve had a few motors on for Tesco myself, I was paid a day rate, Tesco planners give you a day’s work, in my case it was one long run or two locals, I would say the same applies to Stobart, I made bloody good money out of it and my fixed costs were a hell of a lot higher than Stobart’s are, if they’re on the same rate, although it’s probably more, they’ll be making a fortune

Well actually they were for a long time, and still are at a few other depots, ask any of the 600 people who worked at Middlewich from where Tesco ran their own account fleet. link
Also ask any of the 620 staff who worked at Middleton, yes Tesco paid Wincanton a management fee, but again all the fleet of tractors and trailers were owned by Tesco link
Both depots closed due to the huge injection of finance Tesco has given Stobart which got rid of the great terms and conditons staff had at Middlewich and Middleton depots such as a higher hourly rate and double time for Sundays and Bank Holidays for example, something unheard of at Stobarts.
My personal opinion is that Stobart without Tesco would be nothing
