Eddie Stobart Trucks and Trailers, Channel 5

del trotter:
William and his pal look like they’d be offering to tarmac your drive if they hadn’t dropped lucky. Talk about cash not buying you class.

last one up, worst dressed?
They did look theyd been dragged backwards through an hedge. Youd have thought with that money behind em, theyd have hired gok wan or some other stylist to give em a slick dressed TV image. They looked like theyd been shopping at ■■■■■`s R us

generally i thought the prog ok its a telly prog and needs to entertain the masses
which i am sure it did
the fact the some facts where a bit ott is by the by
all companies have characters and the film makers are exploiting Mo (Maurice aka Hunter ex Big Chimeny Squadron)
to fulfill a need

Facts about Mo
he used to work for Rugby Cement aka Steves taxi service
he snogged a girlfreind of mine whilst stuck in a que of traffic on the M1 J8
(well sort of snogged really)
He would always call me Richard
His missus likes shopping

i used to Hitch to Cornwall lots
starting from Lonbridge island nr Warwick
with the help of a walkie talkie had loads of lifts from Mo
and other rugby cement trucks down to Ashchurch nr M5 J9

It looks like we are a nation of Eddie spotters!

I’m with Dusty on this!!

I’m a night Tramper for Stobbies at Aveley and us lads are not in any way like the handpicked  “Mad Morris” or Mo is alright a little OTT but a good fella met him a few times at Crick.

Yes, I think you have to have somebody a bit OTT for a programme like this, I would be no good because from the moment they got into the cab I would just growl “Right, now just shut the ■■■■ up and let me get on with my job”

YEP you and me both Harry

Can anybody else guess who is going to be the star turn at Truckfest next year■■?

3000 miles in 45 hours driving = 66.6 mph

3000 miles in 47 hours = 63.82 mph

So Mo did 0 to at least 63.82 mph in 0 secs flat and kept it up for the whole of his driving time, even in the traffic jam on the North Circular.

I want one of them trucks…

It never said averaged 3000 miles per week, could’ve have been his 6 day week with max driving hours = 56hrs driving

That’s now only an average speed of 53.57mph… See, much more believable.

roadrunner:
i agree about the chap drinking the bottle of water whilst driving, stern talking to there i think

That bit was probably the only genuine part of the programme!
Let those who have not taken a drink while driving cast the first stone!
We all do it!!!
As regards the rest of the programme it no way resembles the real transport industry and anyone who thinks it does is dreaming.
Stobarts were only saved from going under a few years ago by their sleeping partners Tesco which i hope gets a mention in a later edition but i doubt it will.

MolePower:
i wish i was Mo :unamused:

Do you really :unamused: :unamused:

So, a ‘top’ Driver working for Stobbies is happy to get £8 P/H    I’m somewhere near the bottom of the experience ladder and I’m on about the same.
Is this what I have to look forward to when I gain experience? :unamused: :unamused:

no not really :unamused:

but if his worst nightmare is a traffic jam on the M25 then i reckon i’m doing pretty well

No mention of the 100 drivers who got done for fiddling there hours a few years back wonder if topREMOVED gun was one of them …

Why would there be, it was a different company? Don’t forget they didn’t mention Edward Stobart being done for DR10 for the same reason :stuck_out_tongue:

MolePower:

Exactly! If his worst nightmare is that then the guy must spend all day on edge. I mean I know none of us LIKE them, but if they get you wound up its probably not the job for you.

Actually…having said that, I do rather like traffic jams, but then again I’m strange, I always think its a bit of a nice break from cruising along at 56, an hour or so going slow enough to have all the windows down (all them fumes must have been wot dun me in  ) and just chill for a bit.

Alex

Ive never been to a stobbies depot but the pictures ive seen they always have rows upon rows of idle units. How do these units earn their keep are they there just in case? At my depot we have 8 units running 24 hrs a day as soon as the day man hangs the keys up the night man picks them up. I just don’t understand how they make money because the cost of the fleet must be enormous surely

m6again:
Im very very surprised at you lot on here not noticing how many times the narrator said…once the driver has emptied his load, or drops his load. Its like something out of the viz magazine, (finbarr saunders). the whole show was like a film trailer just full of short clips all the time but there was quite a few action sequences…
ie
GASP as tanker man takes a wrong turning
!SHOCK HORROR! Man turns up to a well known diy store (wickes) only to find another wagon getting tipped in front of him !
AWE IN AMAZEMENT as 7 yes count them 7! trucks wait at pumps while man fills up the fuel bunker which takes 45 mins.

i look forward to the next thrilling installment of est&t

I was supprised mo didnt go armed with a wheel brace to make the renault driver move to make way for him.

It is the same scenario in France, rows of trucks and trailers waiting for the drivers to come in and start work. I used to be amazed when I first drove into our French depots or cleaned tankers out in Norberts yard in Lyon or Marseilles

I WOULD work for them probably wouldnt last long with all the bs but would try it before i slagged it , love too be the bloke shaking WTF !!! as his new volvo is bought too him in next weeks episode :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, how exciting, I’ve replaced my old worn out hammer with a new 1…

They’re only tools to do the job, sad gits lol.

I don’t know have you ever seem mechanics screaming like little girls when the Snap On van turns up.

yes mate we do scream when the snap on van turns up,we also run out of his way,we have to pay him

It’s me wi the shakes, n it was the way they have edited it I’m not shakin over new truck hopefully all will be revealed on Friday if not looks like I got new nick name the SHAKER ha lol been called worse but the will change in a few weeks when u see me racin the train to Scotland sure I will then be a TRAIN spotter lol but don’t really care u people think I enjoyed the filming makes a change ,

Couldn’t ‘Top Gun’ have just done a manual entry on the print out to explain the extra few mins   or is that too easy :open_mouth:

Now I class myself as an old school driver being at it since 1970 but I can assure everyone we are not all like ‘Top Gun Mo’ just as I’m sure he and the other drivers shown are not truly representative of all Stobbies lads & lassies.

Seems to be the same kind of people always work for these big companies, my theory being that its easier to hide your deficiencies when you have 100 other colleagues to blame for your ■■■■ ups. Its a lot harder to do in a small co; :open_mouth:

Regards
Dave Penn;

just a thought can we have a new topic started for next weeks episode
