Easiest job in the world

Despite all the moaning I hear from other drivers this really is the easiest job, start at 7am, 2-3 local runs a day and usually finished in the winter by 1.
Summer runs usually 5-6 in the evening, completely left alone(not even hounded by phone) and have my own truck.
The jobs usually what you make of it, ■■■■■ days and good, just wondering if I’m the only one loving it

Nah you not alone, I don’t do it full time yet but I generally love it, only downside really is the volume of traffic and the ever increasing number of Muppets on the road!!!

I generally avoid jobs that mention things like heavy lifting, or lots of handball. That way I don’t have bad days.

Traffic sadly never going to improve, nor the poor driving standards that seem so commonplace now. I just chill and count the extra hour’s cash.

I’m a new pass (4 months) and I’m on foodservice delivering to anywhere in the midlands/north.

Can be driving a van, 7.5t or class 2 (receive class 2 rate regardless, agency) and find out where I’m off when I roll in so bags of variety although it looks like I’m in line for the Leeds city centre route. The route no-one wants to do :unamused: :grimacing:

I’ve come off the forks and ‘loving it’ to :grimacing:

Freedom and get to stare at skirt all day, what’s not to like?

Sorry if this is a bit upbeat for on here lads.

Same here, however we mostly stay local (usually a 80mile round trip)
Most guys on here enjoy moaning as most drivers usually do
Don’t like it, move trades.

And a lot believe that unless they heard about something in an RDC drivers waiting karzi it can never happen !

We do Leeds, if it’s before 6am then it’s a doddle, after that then it’s horrible.

I’m liking it. Though, the hours are a little long and pressing on family life more than I’d like. Still, wage is better than what I used to be on so can’t complain, really.

Wait until you’ve been tramping over 25 year and struggle 2 get home on a Friday , and you’ve missed your family growing up , then tell me you love it :open_mouth:

Yes it is the best job in the world when it’s all new but when you’ve done it for a while it gets a little bit wearing, still enjoy while you can and stop taking the ■■■■ out of us who have already been there and done it,nite nite.

Only been on it twice and it seems if I stay on the loop, I’m alright which is lucky as 80% of my drops are on it

Erm … Sorry to sound harsh but who’s fault is that then?

Apologies in advance if you were forced into tramping away all week against your will, which resulted in not always getting back on a Friday and also missing your family growing up.

But you Must…as you have not quit and become a production line worker.
It gets under the skin , and do not tell me I am lying. You like the solitude in the cab .

Seriously though watching ones family grow up is over rated, womens work and as hunter gatherers (I dont mean chopper fiddlers hunting tame Lions, like our Cecil) its a mans duty to go out and bring home the bacon (not peppa pig variety).

I will allow women to perform this act as long as they are easily mistaken for rough looking fellas, in a lesbian relationship or living with a gender confused male.
Oh and special dispensation for working women who drop their draws after half a bottle of lambrini.

Oh and for those youngsters on here who didnt get the memo, we are supposed to pretend we dont like our job as women folk are more welcoming when we come home after a hard days graft. If they think we are out enjoying ourselves without them this can lead to issues…FFS guys I fear for our species…

For about 6 months i used to do daily trips round the M25 to a wood treatment plant near QE2 bridge.
No one else wanted to do it in the yard, got a brand new lorry, air con and did 2-3 trips a day.
Normally had 30min off load / on load at the depot & treatment place.

Spent the summer listening to BBC TMS & getting paid for it.

The job sadly ended when the company decided on buying timer already treated.

Bus driving is much better. Much more of a professional job and a lot more job satisfaction. More money to.

my job is easier :grimacing:
seatin at home because i had a duty for sunday. then on friday evening at 17.55 they replaced me with a new driver which i just since a week in uk and gave me a duty "19.30 till finish, which can be short as 4 hour.
i refused,as i say aditional driver may do aditional shift.
got confirmation from pertemps “out of Hour Office” that they can not do such activity, and, the transport has to deal with “Out of Time Office” with everything after 17.00 and Weekend&Bank Holiday.
But they are now fd up with me a i have off during that good Weather Periode :unamused:

the passengers would get on my nerves.are you ever tempted to put the ‘bus not in service’ blind up,and sail straight by the bus-stops?

Depends what they look like

I went to a ‘grab a granny’ night once to keep a friend company (honest). Lots of women over thirty just looking for fun, whilst their husbands were nighting out most of the week. I got real confused as to who the trampers were…
