Drug test

Google says:

What drugs show up as amphetamines?

The prescription medications known to cause false-positive amphetamine urine drug screen include fluoxetine, selegiline, ranitidine, trazodone, nefazodone, brompheniramine, phenylpropanolamine, chlorpromazine, promethazine, ephedrine, methamphetamine, and labetalol

The test doesn’t indicate amphetamine in the blood because it is a saliva test.

It would detect recent drug use only.

There’s a lot of functional alcoholics out there who are so addicted to it and have been for so long that they need an amount in a morning when they get up that’d floor a normal human being just to function like a normal person. They can be well over the limit but you’d never tell just by looking at them, talking to them, even seeing them walking around doing things. Same I suspect applies to drugs.

If you’re earning a decent wage, enough to support your habit as well as your normal living how is someone to tell? My ex-neighbour’s son was the local drug dealer. Saw someone who I used to go to school with visit him on a regular basis. Guy works as a mechanic in a local garage and you’d not tell by looking at him he was an addict.

teatime:
dozy ,just a thought, Do you take any of the "Energy drinks? " wife came up +ve for speed at her works routine screening years ago, got cleared following a second proper test .
Also I am surprised at you dozy, you do realise its Friday the 13th , shouldn’t you be keeping your head down today ■■

No I’ve never drunk energy drinks , spoke to receptionist at doctors and there going to get back to me

IF they do just finish you and reckon youll just slide away quietly you should do the opposite.Start posting daily on local social media giving the heads up the drug test via this firm. For all you know they may be doctoring the results to hasten your leaving.
Ive noticed that no end of firms and individuals get really shirty once theyve been outed on Facebook, home truths published local groups -the mud sticks and so it should.

End of the day if it turns out it’s your medication that contains the amphetamine.
You maybe be able aim loss of earnings from company that’s layed you off

I don’t believe there out to get me , they were as surprised as I was , boss is a long term mate , I don’t think they were left with a lot of alternative other than to stand me down ,
If I can’t get answers as to how I’ve got amphetamine in me , blood or as said above saliva ( I believe I will ) then I guess theyl be left with no real alternative other than finish me
It’s not the end of the world , why I’m not really bothered about job as intended to pack up in 8/9 months anyway , just finish a bit early
Thanks though

I’m hoping this gets cleared up pretty quick , so won’t loose one much in wages ,I’m not short of a Bob or two anyway
Thanks

Did you stop for a quick one in D2S last night? I imagine you could end up with a multitude of things you wern’t expecting there.

Well that’s explains that then….

I would suggest it raises questions rather than explain anything , how have I got amphetamine in my blood , if it’s medication related why have various doctors who’ve prescribed it not mention anything , why have the dvsa medical dept who know all the medication I take passed me fit to drive

I think Switch was metaphorically biting his tongue at my expense and poisoning himself, as he does :smiling_imp:

Why i suggested the clot shot was the timing is just too convenient, and no bugger bar whoever made the batch has any idea whats in it or how it may react or combine with any other medication one might be taking, because (not as i’ve had one and won’t be) i’m given to believe the clot and flu shots are a production line money making operation for the surgeries.

We have random tests at work, very random, and you’ll get a test if you have an accident.

Won’t the company have to call in a professional or doctor for full blood test analysis before taking any long term disciplinary action? assuming you’ve been there long enough for them not to just dump you, hope it doesn’t work out like that anyway.

Not quite, nothing to do with you sorry, I was making a joke, as in that explains the way he posts. I didn’t actually notice your comment, apologies

What is this new fangled magic answer machine you speak of?

it’s uncanny, isn’t it. Like he’s in the room…

I know Dozy can be a bit challenging to deal with at times but the possibility of a false positive drugs test should be something every truck driver should be aware of and concerned about.

Yes, a false positive is a possible and worrying possibility.

But two… :open_mouth:

Actually, no.

In view of his latest comments in regards the horrific situation in Gaza and Israel, I think he is not a lovable simplemind. He is advocating genocide.

What was he addicted to?
And how do you know he was an addict?
Visiting a drug dealer might not necessarily mean you are a drug addict

I had an induction last year for a company we work for-few of us there-I failed the drug test for opiates-so embarrassing.
The B sample went to the lab and I got the all clear a couple of weeks later-luckily I was allowed to work on this contract whilst I awaited the results-
I never got any feedback but the only things it could have been were poppy seeded bread rolls or my hay fever medicine.

I’m sure i have seen it mentioned you are diabetic, this one mentions Metformin giving false positives, amongst many others. Pseudoephedrine and other decongestants can also do so.
