Driving whilst waiting for CPC card?

Am I correct in that when I do my periodic 35hrs that a card will be sent automatically without me having to apply for it?

Also - as I’m doing them next week can I drive whilst waiting for said card after hours uploaded and show online as done?

Would having the hours show up online be enough to satisfy VoSA?

I don’t want to miss chance for xmas work if I can avoid it and prove my hours are there and just waiting for the plastic !

Will a printout suffice? No doubt it’ll be agency work first so will they insist on card even though a formality ?

I did my adr test on a friday. Cpc hours were uploaded monday and card was on my doormat thursday. So not much of a wait.

Thanks for that, hope it’s comes that quick !

Yes

Technically, Yes and No  (our DCPC waffler said yes you get a grace period but I haven’t seen this anywhere in writing to back up his claim)

they usually show up a day after they are uploaded by the course provider, of course I cannot determine when your course provider will upload them! (mine took on average 3 days after each module)

EDIT: reread this, refer to my previous answer of: (our DCPC waffler said yes you get a grace period but I haven’t seen this anywhere in writing to back up his claim)

Yes they’ll insist agency or not, its the law so why wouldn’t they? Will a printout suffice? Doubt it, as the website says no!

Thanks Reef, that’s what I thought in reality.

Just have to push to get hours uploaded ASAP and hope card comes as quick as m_attt’s did.

Really regretting being stupid early on and not realising could have done these on my pre97 C1 entitlement whilst waiting for Cat C training and test

Finished mine on the sunday card here by thursday

As Reef said you cant really drive with out it but they did say there was a grace period but not seen it anywhere ( although do think someone on here said &put a link to a report )

Wouldnt like to risk or challenge it mind

Go to the “GOV” WEBSITE look up CPC HOURS, and register with them they will send a password through the post, it will give you access to your HOURS online once they are uploaded by your course provider,

IT will help to prove to employer /agency how many hours you have done before your card arrives, that should also save you a week, unless you already have that ,

also do you have your DIGI CARD ?, if not apply now, it will also take a week or so to arrive.

i was there a whole week for CPC, MON- FRI and the provider didnt register any hours till it was all complete, DQC arrived 5 days after.

Hope you get some work before Christmas,

Waiting for your DQC

You can still drive professionally if you’ve completed your periodic training and you’re waiting for your DQC to arrive.

The website it’s from is

gov.uk/driver-certificate-o … n-card-dqc

The evidence that you’ve completed the training is in the certificates issued daily on attendance.

Sorted.

Pete

i wasnt issued certificates daily ,and still havent recieved any two weeks later , i have my card now though and also it shows my hours online , might be that certificates are not always issued daily by certain course providers .

Takes longer than it takes for card to come through

You dont get card until all parts are complete so wouldnt matter if he uploaded daily or not

Except that it states on the very page you are referring too

This record may not be used as evidence of CPC qualification.

Handy to know thanks Pete

It begs the question though doesn’t it, If the official DCPC check page from the .gov site cannot be used as evidence, yet you can drive providing you’ve completed the training, how the hell are you meant to prove it to the officer at the side of the road!

Remember it’s a graduated fixed penalty of £50 for not producing your card ON SCENE!

Similar to the fact that they can use your tach as evidence but you cant :unamused:

showing an employer 35 hours on the website , holds more water than merely telling him youve done them and havent got yourr card yet, i would imagine.
im sure it would be accepted as proof by the agency

Animal any good or bad employers worth looking at or avoiding ? in the Gateshead area, for 7.5 work?
i have “C” TEST in a couple of weeks, so only need a bit part time at the moment
applied to agency at team valley last week.

A couple of simple facts to dispel most of the concerns shown on this thread:

The trainer is obliged to supply a certificate each day that the candidate attended for the whole session. It’s not up to the trainer to decided whether or not he’ll do it - - it’s in the regs and he has no option. If he hasn’t done it, report him to JAUPT. To not do so is to condone sloppy standards.

Once the hours have been uploaded, the card reliably arrives within 5 working days - often quicker and always has done.

Any roadside check that fined you £50 for not producing at the roadside will look stupid when you meet them in court. Simply, they are wrong - you are right.

Honestly, there’s much more interesting stuff to get excited about!

How the hell are they wrong and you right if the law actually stated that its a fixed penalty for not producing at the roadside?

I refer to the information quoted from the gov website:

I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s down to implementation.

If anyone gets “done” under these circumstances, let me know and I’ll fight it FOC. Having said that, I wouldn’t go outside the UK without the card.

Pete

i was told at the end of day 5 CPC ,i could drive till CARD arrived .
