Cuban or Stilletto ?
blimey i thought it was just me who did that , i take my shoes / boots or whatever off and drive in just my socks ( i’m always fully dressed just incase you were wondering ) maybe i picked it up from my step pappy , he always drove in his slippers .

Me too. If questioned I would just say they are thin shoes.
In over 20 years of driving all over Europe and having been in countless controls I have never once had my footwear checked or questioned. I have been stopped while driving in just socks, flip flops, those clack things and it has never been an issue.
I believe it’s illegal in poland, as I was once stopped by their eqivalent of the BAG and all he did was open the door and look at my feet, as I was wearing shoes that was the end of it. Was once asked by the BAG in germany, if my feet got cold when driving with no shoes but nothing more. I can’t imagine driving a full 10 hours with shoes
In my early continental days, every man and his cloggie mate wore wooden clogs(non furry) Even the tanker drivers including myself wore them, they were eventually banned on H&S grounds, not because they were dangerous to drive in, just bloody heavy when they hit the tank farm operator on the head
I could almost run up a tank ladder in clogs and they were ideal footwear in a wet cleaning station
Did you see the cow cloggs, made of real Friesian hairs, black and white, they were funny to look at,truck stops would sell them.
its illegal in spain to drive without backs on your shoes but i normally wear clacks and i’ve never been told off but my mrs was stopped in a control in fuengirola last week and the GC told her to change her shoes as they had no back on them, maybe thats why the plastic russians have stopped wearing flipflops and socks and started wearing those steel toecap clog things with backstraps on?

I used to work with a driver who insisted on wearing them. He used to get the right up when we used to leave a saucer of milk on his step for them.

I can’t imagine driving without shoes on. I did 9 hours 40 mins in a manual truck with no crusie control the other week, and did it all in safety boots. Admittedly I did have to hop the other foot onto the accelerator a couple of times on the motorway, cos my leg was going to sleep. But driving without shoes would be too weird for me!

they’re my weekend wellies in the car, i keep the best ones in the truck
I’ve been all over europe in my socks with no problem (although the exhaust brake in a DAF is a bit uncomfortable)
I got stopped by the Polizei in Germany a few weeks ago and they said that it is illegal to drive in Germany in shoes with no back,
They didn’t nick me for it.They nicked me for something else instead!
I have been stopped in countless controls all over europe and nobody has ever remarked about it until the other week.
I always wear open back carpet slippers when driving,I never have my steel capped shoes in the cab, they stay on the top step, and nobody is allowed into my cab with shoes on (unless she’s very pretty and wearing stiletto’s).
The reason being is that you can pick up all sorts of unpleasant things on your shoes when walking around a parking area, the tell-tale bits of tissue or kitchen paper are usually a clue of something brown and steaming to watch out for,or even diesel that has been spilt will leave a nasty odour in the cab for a few days.
