In your own car on motorway, what’s that about ?
And why must you wear a big hi-viz jacket.
Dunno why they do it,but I do know that wearing their hi-viz usually excempts them from putting any lights on at dawn/dusk or when foggy ,you see the driver coming alongside you in your mirror but not the vehicle
I just wish they’d think of the children…
There are no minimum speed limits on motorways so that is the drivers choice.

There used to be a sign as you join the motorway showing minimum speed 30mph. Also told you of prohibited vehicles ie. no mopeds or motorcycles under 50cc no 3 wheelers etc

They’re perfectly allowed but it is somewhat annoying, I usually see more of this in the morning so maybe they’re taking it steady cos still half asleep or maybe had a few drinks the night b4, also fuel is expensive so taking it easy will of course save fuel.

It is also the drivers choice to get sideswiped while doing that, one of the biggest complaints from car drivers and other lorryists is the 17 mile overtake with a speed difference of 0.0017 mph
And then you give the car driver the choice to do exactly the same

There you go then, if they’re doing 55 mph they’re within the legal speed limit
People driving slowly on a motorway can be annoying (though I don’t consider 55 mph to be that slow) but to be honest I don’t really care much how slow they go (within reason ) as long as they keep to the left lane so I can get past
I recently drove my car on M25 at 70 in nearside lane and had three lanes of traffic overtaking me so what is the problem? I have yet to find a motorway with less than two lanes so you can always overtake if you want to.
There seems to be an obsession that 70 is the minimum speed to travel at.
With the price of fuel being what it is I rarely drive my car over 60.

That is another valid reason.
penny not dropped …eddie spotters playing truckers flashing you in is the dead give away
55mph car drivers are a pain the arse as they rarely maintain it; They chat to passengers and ease off to 52, I pull out to pass them and when they realise crank it upto 60 and then let go of the accelerator altogether and so the cycle begins again. Elderly drivers are worse theyre incapable of holding a steady speed as they reach for a Werthers Original in their National Trust stickered Rover 45…
I hope he wasnt following me on the way home from work down the M6 this morning lol
It just seems bizarre people think saving a few quid is more important than safety. Lorryists are some of the worst users on the road when it comes to not paying attention or tailgating, especially on motorways so the last place anyone with common sense wants to travel is immediately in front of them at 55-60 mph. There isn’t a single day when I haven’t seen several drivers with their right foot on the dash whilst tailgating or drivers reading notes/maps at 56 mph just inches from the vehicle in front.
On your average heavy but free flowing motorway the safest place for cars to be is in lane 3 going with the flow of traffic, whether it be 70 mph or 90 mph. They’re not the ones getting sideswiped and they’re not the ones constantly surrounded by 44 tonne juggerynuts.
The average car doing 60 mph instead of 50mph saves about an eggcup full of fuel per tank.
If you can’t afford to do at least 60mph (in decent, normal conditions) then you shouldn’t be on the road. I plod about doing about 52 on the M-Ways and thankfully don’t do much on them now but Tuesday I spent all day on the M56 and I was shocked at how often I had to overtake cars doing significantly less than I was.

speak for yourself
One of my mates does this and it really winds me up cos he’s a ■■■!
He says that if he drives like a door handle and has a high viz on people think he’s a copper and they slow down. WHY? i don’t know he’s just a fracking door handle! I said to him even if they dont slow down “WHAT THE FRACK ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT”?
nothing he says, someone else will. Facking knob
Slowing down more than just a few miles per hour before pulling onto a slip road and slowing down 10mph+ to read an overhead junction sign winds me up. Are the roads not large enough and are the signs not large and frequent enough to drive consistantly whilst planning ahead?
A lot of impatient people on here!
Live and let live I say. The only thing that maybe gets me a bit is the inconsistency. Do 55 if you want, but try and keep it that way. Too many times Ive gone to overtake a 51mph-er knowing full well I
m gonna be left hanging out to dry when it dawns on them theyre getting passed by a truck. Annoying. I dont have a problem with folks driving slower to save fuel. In my car I
m normally at 80mph-ish but last week I did a 620 mile round trip (car) to Southampton with a trailer on so I set my cruise at 60 and I must admit it was the most enjoyable journeys Ive done in ages. It didn
t take much longer and I got 46.6 mpg off a 2.0ltr diesel. Stress free as well. No trucks trying to get past all the time.
I wouldn`t want to go any slower mind, getting mixed up with the trucks is a bit barmy, but each to his own.

You mean 50mph rather than 60mph?
Rubbish - it will save at least 15-20%
