Hi Guys, i have spent the last year driving class2 and am going to be starting a new job back on class1, i will have to attend a 2 week training course for this job. My question is would part of this count towards my DCPC, as it is training on how to do the job, and how to load the trailer and operate the hydraulics (car transporters).
I havn’t done any of the DCPC yet, but if i want to continue driving then i will have to start.

Depends on the training but not unless the training course is registered as a Driver CPC training course.
The training course has to be registered as such so the government can make a few bob out of it

People like Gogzy by virtue of being Scottish can and should apply for an I.L.A. INDIVIDUAL LEARNING ACCOUNT its worth £200. per annum.I think the whole thing is a tax ,but there we go. There was a post about a month ago guy said that the Dutch are saying if you were born prior to 1955 you dont need to do the training.
Hours done…1 day a week for 5 weeks = approx 40 hrs
useful…not on your nelly
but i did get to go home early ( till the bosses found out ) and made the instructors lengthen the day from 5hrs to 7hrs.
I also learnt to work the coffee machine which was free.
And was told that in future the cpc would/could be a renewable asset to the government, which is why its got a sell by date on it…and as you all know, that means money to our masters, same as the hazchem…gotta have it…cant work without it…
Did you know that at this moment in time, a newly qualified hgv driver, must now carry a cpc to produce to the authorities, even though its not compliant till 2014…and even more bizarre is the fact a driver doesnt need a cpc to take his test, yet has to take a theory…just a thought…be careful out there truckers.

It is compliant right now and has been for LGVs since 10/09/2009
Those with aquired/grandfather rights are not required to carry a DQC (driver cpc card) UNTIL they complete all 35 hours and get issued with a DQC
That 35 hours must be completed before 09/09/2014 so that the driver with a LGV LICENCE can drive LGVs commercially after that date
Newly qualified drivers who got their very first C or C1 LGV LICENCE after 09/09/2009 have to pass the initial dcpc modules 2 and 4 and be issued with a DQC before they can drive LGVs commercially
A DQC will not be issued to newbies until both modules 3 and 4 are passed
The LICENCE and the DCPC are two seperate issues
Modules 1a theory, 1b HPT and 3 practical road test to get the LICENCE
Modules 2 dcpc theory and 4 dcpc practical to be able to use the LICENCE commercially
Once a driver has got a DQC in their possession then it must be carried at all times when driving LGVs (or PCVs) commercially.
There are quite a few who get the LICENCE but not bother with the DCPC because they want it for private use such as driving their own horseboxes

im hoping to be away from trucks by 2014 tbh, not really driving much anymore, i see it as a tax on us by the government for something we know already, its a good thing for new drivers without a clue,
having read some of the previous posts I can presumably take an adr course, fail it miserably, take the full course again and fail, yet still recieve a dcpc card? no tests is 1 thing but 2 fail and still get it is laughable.
