Drink (Truck) Driving

MR VAIN:
( and going on 1 reaction I have just read, if you should see a woman being attacked, just look the other way, cos as a human being, you should avoid doing the right thing!!!)

The day that happened Mr V, I certainly would intervene, but the difference between your point and the event in question is that a crime WAS actually occuring, not a perception based on an obvious predjudice towards foreign drivers.

I called a NON EMERGENCY number.
The authorities didn’t need to storm his cab with AK47’s blazing and why would they need to do anything?? Get a grip ffs.

Foreign drivers have a job to do just like us. I’m not bothered by his nationality, why would I be?

I know mate, but IF he had been drinking, then pulled out of the services and 30 mins later he had taken out a coach load of kids, would you of wished you’d of done some thing? This was always gonna be a hot potato. To be fair, the last driver I saw drinking was parked in a lay By on break

Yea, Soz.
I have personal heart ache from a drink driver.
My choice and I make a call, end of. Only time as well.

‘Trawling through the bin’ sad [zb], the rubbish this chap had put in was on top, I didn’t have to move anything. I had rubbish to put in a bin and that bin was the closest, 'tard.

No, you said ‘you were curious’ so went to the bin because you’re a nosey good for nothing do-gooder that interferes in other peoples lives! and you call me a ‘tard’■■ You sound just like the type of driver I do my best to avoid at stops etc. Full of ■■■■.

I am lucky enough not to have personal heartache from a D/driver but I am still very anti drink driving. Just can’t understand why anyone would do what you did unless you actually saw the driver drinking the cans

And you will again. You reserve the right to do the right thing. The right thing by you and yours.

Each to their own. But sometimes you will get some ■■■■ on here for confessing to such things.

I never drink the night before i am due in for work.

Also if i was a tramper i wouldn’t even touch a drop whilst being inside my truck, as i am still in charge of the vehicle (Had this debate with Harry Monk a while back) Don’t matter if your on a 11hour or not, still in charge of the lorry.

Drink driving is a mugs game. If your doing it then you need to see a doctor as you have a problem.

The only time I’ll have a drink is when we’re having a BBQ with friends on a hot summer day, you can’t not

Also when I go camping for a weekend with me dad and brother.

Apart from that I very rarely drink. The most I’ve done regarding drinking and driving is having a pint on the odd occasion when we go out for a slap up meal.

theres nothing to stop you having a drink in the cab whilst on a rest period.just being in charge of the vehicle is not an offence...you have to be intent on driving it. i know this, because i was charged and taken to court..where the case was dropped without me even showing my face. back to the op. i usually have a pint with my tea, when on a night out.if im at home ill have 3 or 4..unless ive got a really early start time

Your’e right drink driving is a mugs game, and it certainly DOES matter if you are on an 11hour off period as it is completely different so why do you suggest it is the same.

You keep creating these analogies, women getting attacked now wer’e on the old bus load of kids chestnut but even if we go on to mass murders the fact is that no law was broken on this occasion, he COULD have been intending to drive on and I COULD win the lottery this week, but I aint gonna pack my job in on the strength of it.

Why bother calling any number, just get on with your break, as you say why did the authorities need to do anything just because the guy was clearing out his cab, and your imagination was over working, thats logic, so why do I need to get a grip, I suggest you take your own advise.

‘Clearing out his cab’ or getting rid of the ‘evidence’? He only put the 4 cans in the bin, nothing else.
Anyways, I acted best I saw fit, if you don’t like how I interpret the scene as I saw it, then tough. I see it one way and you see it another. Two sides to every story, that’s it.

There is a big difference between having two or three beers when you finish than hurling 12 pints down your neck in the stockyard on grab a granny night and been up on the road at 5 am.
However it seems some people can’t differentiate this.
As for drink driving and someone who has been banned for it a good few years ago and not in a truck I now go for the theory of if I’ve got the car I don’t have alcohol because the limit is such a grey area depending on your metabolism the strength of the beer etc.

I pulled into Toddington south for a 45, once parked I noticed a bit of a heated (judging by the arm waving) debate between the driver of a rigid and two of vosa’s finest.
Driver lost interest, got back in his cab, slammed door and drew curtains. About twenty minutes later the traffic cops arrive and persuade driver to get out of cab, female traffic cop offers breathalyzer to the driver.
The effort required to blow and stand up was to much for the guy and he fell on his backside, shortly after the hancuffs appeared!

Don’t drink much at all myself and never in the truck but know several that will have a couple of cans when parked up.

I think the question is worded incorrectly. I answered on the basis ‘do I have a drink when I’m having a night out in the truck’! Yes I do, 2 cans of Bud every night with my meal and a movie. Would I ever consider drink driving? No, that would be stupid! Do I know how alcohol units work? Yes. There’s a time and a place for getting drunk and its not in a truck. Unless I was on a 45 hour weekly rest period in Carisio!

Christ, last week the day after my 45 hour break I had a tidy up and binned two wine bottles. Best stop doing this since its now akin to drinking and driving. If only I’d known. And if anyone asks they were Berties. He’s partial to a drop of Chateau Neuf du Pap.

Go steady everyone, don’t go wiping out coach loads of kids…

“Getting rid of the evidence” :open_mouth: are you some sort of self appointed law enforcer, or a wannabe detective :unamused: , like a few have said mate, mind your own business.
