Discussion of posting RIP topics [Split from other topic]

I heard a pigeon flew out in front of a Scania Topliner last week and the outcome was not good. Are you going to send condolences to the family?

Far too many people sending condolences nowadays and don’t give me the “its a sign of respect thing”. I just think for a lorry driver forum that we should be discussing lorry driver issues and not funeral arrangements.
I understand you mean well but is there really any point? if you care so much then send a donation or flowers to the funeral, better still try attending then you wont be here making these pathetic heart bleeding pointless posts.

I am not trolling but I bet many others are thinking the same as me. Obviously delete if you feel it to be inappropriate.

Its all well and good trying to “fit in” by calling me names but this is what makes these forums dull. Everybody agreeing on everything because they dare not rock the boat. Before you know it all that will be here are the obituaries columns.
Face it, hundreds of people die every hour and yet the OP does not post their passing’s on here so why this one?

Sorry if my post upsets but I really need to ask “why make the post”? it does nothing for the victim, nothing for their family and nothing to probably every reader of the topic. If you need to abuse me for stating what many will be thinking then get over yourselves and accept that others have a viewpoint too, as much as you might not like it.

just maybe its a lorry driver that as lost his life, which maybe does make it a lorry driver issue…

having worked there in the past and know a few who still do maybe that is also why i have put the post? as you can see that i,m from York so local to the place.

but hey you obviously dont give a ■■■■ so why bother replying.

the post is titled RIP so why did you even open the post and read it if it means so little to you…

Because I thought you was going to tell us about the pigeon.

It could be me or you tomorrow.

Well that would solve any arguments then.

Truckbling has a valid point. It’s the same as people who get offended on behalf of minority groups when the minority group weren’t offended in the first place - or those who cried when Diana died despite not actually knowing her.
The forum has become dull and boring.
As there’s no information as to who, what, why and how relating to the OP’s post then it’s not even like a discussion can take place about what’s happened.

Absolutely! at least I wouldn’t have to read it on here then would I

Hearing of someone dying at work saddens me. You shouldn’t go to work to die just to do your job.
However when a truck driver dies doing his work I feel a heightened state of sadness as he is more or less doing the same work as me and this brings the dangers home of the job.
If certain ‘members’ don’t agree with these RIP posts please just leave them in peace.
If you feel the need to troll/argue/be disrespectful etc just do it on another thread there plenty of idiots on here to bite back at you to go around.

But the OP states they know nothing of what’s actually happened, only that it happened in a loading bay.
Does that mean there’s a similar thread on fork truck drivers.net about a possible fallen brethren?
Let’s face it, 10 years ago without forums and instant social media you’d have been none the wiser about what happened today and you life unaffected.

its not difficult really, in my original post I clearly say as reported in the york press… I dont do the rumour crap that most drivers seem to do so didnt put anything else other then loading area… tbh i,m not bothered about the finer points for the trucknet csi to drool over. you just need to look at york press if you want the details, I personally was more concerned that it may have been someone i knew that had been involved and wanted to pass on my support…

but to try and turn a serious post into a laugh and a joke is pathetic, if you dont like the RIP things why even click and read it as its obvious what it is going to be…

yes it is about respect, and if as a driver you have no respect for guys doing the same job or asscociated jobs who have died whilst doing that job how can you expect respect from anyone.

You don’t have to “fit in” by calling you an utter bell end, that’s just fact not habit.
Yep, hundreds, maybe shock horror, thousands of people die every hour but if you cannot make the connection between the posted link and the OP marking the passing of someone in our industry as opposed to the other thousands in the hour then you are marking your self out As pi$$ poor thick and an equally poor troll, why are you even on here?? Are you so stupid as to not get the point off this site? Why mention hundreds of people dying? You make no sense at all, it’s a bit embarrassing really
Tragedy strikes every day no matter what you do, take the bus crashing into a supermarket yesterday, a poor little kid and an elderly lady died, if you cannot comprehend offering sympathy out to all those involved then you have to be some kind of a useless piece of ■■■■. The offer of sympathy is not just personal, it shows a level of acceptance in tragedy, an understanding that it could happen to any of us.
Stating that you are “entitled to a different point of view” as a get out to the abuse you may get for being an idiot is just cowardly. Your post is 100% troll fella. Bad taste and disrespectful.
If you have such an issue with people marking the death of a some one in our industry then might I suggest you try being man enough to become the OP of a topic?
Maybe call it " why should we give a toss about people dying in our industry, after all they don’t matter…"

Nah, keyboard balls big, real life balls not. I guess special school has a different term time so you don’t risk mixing■■?

Spot on.

I genuinely don’t think it’s a case of everybody thinking it so much as most people having brought up to tip their hat to those who have lost their life, even if that message never reaches the victim’s family. It’s a decent human trait and shows respect for your fellow human. I’d say the weakness lies with those who have a problem with this, as they think they are important enough that the person offering condolences is doing it only for their benefit.

Truckbling has a point, if the death is industry related then the incident itself will make a worthy post, but a thread full of RIP driver comments is a waste of time really, I doubt the bereaved will be logging in to trucknetuk to read the thread.

If it is one of the trucknetuk community then that’s different, many of us will have had an interaction with the deceased.

You see I make a valid post and those who do not agree take the one and only route they know best and that is abuse. This is typical behaviour or your average lorry driver and I would not expect anything less from a fair few on here. This is why I refer to many lorry drivers as typical thick [zb]s because that is all they are and will ever be. They are the reason I post less and less on these forums because all they know is how to abuse and start calling names if they don’t like or agree with what you say.

NOWHERE has it said a fellow driver has lost their life, if anything it was a fellow driver that caused it based upon the posts above. I agree that any loss of life is terrible for those left behind but these public outpourings of grief are really just attention seeking if you want my opinion. I know some of you don’t but I have to read yours so offer me the same decency.
A few posters try to justify that because it might be a fellow trucker that this validates the post, so, are you saying that other trades do not count? are you saying your average Joe public would not be worthy of a post on here because they came to an untimely end and are not a lorry driver?

It is similar to facebook, a poster graces their status with eg “Michael, its been 20 years since you passed but you are still strong in my thoughts”. Great! really pleased for you but why not keep these things in your thoughts? they serve no useful purpose whatsoever. They will not bring a loved one back nor will it make you feel any better. Society has taken a very sad turn for the worse in my opinion and social media is feeding this frenzy.
I along with millions of others have lost close loved ones and work colleagues, I grieve and move on. I remember them in my own way and don’t feel the need to rub it in everybody else’s face when I know they don’t know the person so why would they care and want to read my outpourings of grief? Had it in fact been a driver then I probably would have kept my big gob shut and thought to myself " what a shame, there but for the grace of god and all that", but it wasn’t hence my rude shocking insensitive post that renders me the lowest for of life ever to walk the planet.

Please keyboard warriors, save your abuse for someone who gives a ■■■■.

Absolutely…

Those posts on Facebook to dead people are just to get attention, it seems that many people these days have lost the capacity to sit back and enjoy their thoughts, as soon as something pops into their head they’re posting it for everyone to see.

5mins looking at somebody’s forum and social media posts would tell you if you wanted to know them or not.
