Diecast Truck Models

Harry Monk:
Very nice models… I have this rather cruder beast, who’s going to be first to identify it?

Zil, made in Russia. Actually a copy of an american truck from the early fifties. Up to the 90’s they’ve been made with V8 petrol(!) engines…

My kids (2&3 going on 3&4) would have a field day playin with all these toy trucks!!!

TOY TRUCKS!!! Your a brave man saying that

I see your point! Some of the models on here look really good (too good to play with!), some great detail on them. Expensive too! I can see them taking pride of place on many a mantle piece

BAXTER BOY:
If anybody on here knows of any good places to buy cabinets suitable for showing and keeping truck models in please post details or links to websites please.

Mate of mine bought four cabinets from Comet last week.
The shops are closing and everything will be ripped out.
He offered the manager a fiver apiece for the display cabinets were they had the i pods etc and the guy accepted.
He felt a bit bad for the guy but the shop people said they would only be scrapped once the shop fitters came in and started ripping the place apart.
Worth a go.

ive been looking at some 1:50 models by WSI Collectables (whilst looking for Tekno), anyone know if theyre any good? theres a seller from Greece got a few nice models (Danish trucks) im looking at.

They make great models and are far superior to Corgi. I have 50+ WSI in my collection now and they are more robust than Tekno but I think Tekno have the edge on paintwork/printing. The only problem I find with WSI is the packaging, I have had about half a dozen models arrive with some form of damage although it’s usually only minor things that are easily repairable.

The guy from Greece (George) is great to deal with and often models arrive as quickly as ones I’ve bought from UK sellers.

Is the seller from Greece called modeltruckland?

If so I got my nooteboom DAF XF105 very friendly seller and if they any models I think WSI if you tell him the number I think he can order one for you

i have bought quite a few models off george in greece, usually delivered in 3to 4 days, always well packed, the man is a gent and i can vouch for him as will anyone who has dealt with him.

i bought this off him (pic from ebay, my model has a DSV euroliner behind it)

I was a bit dubious what with it coming from Greece, but it turned up quicker than a British bought model, very well wrapped etc, i will be buying more from him.

My latest one, new Volvo FH540 Globetrotter XL

After buying the Iain Watt Scania with tipping trailer which came out earlier this year I decided to Scratchbuild a couple of Wilcox tipping trailers and do a Code3 job and make up a couple of XF105 units as these are Iains latest two motors one is a standard twin steer the other has the dreaded pram wheels thats why it has side fairings to hide them.
The units were made from bits out of the spares box the cab fairings on both were scratchbuilt as I had none in the box. The decals were made by a good friend Robert Wilson or BobbyRab as he is known to some and an excellent job he did on them they just made the job. Eddie.

They are amazing! Absolute credit to you! You should start making them as a side hobby and sell them?

I collected them when I lived in England, left them with my family.

this is my latest buy and it is a cracking model

This is the latest in the WSI Showtruck Series

Got loads of models stuck in cupboards, anyone recommend a reasonable place to buy a decent cabinet, model fairs charging £150 up its a rip off.

I think the best cabinets with in a reasonable price range are the Lidl ones although they are not dust free as when you build them there is gaps round the glass. When lidl do get them in you have to be quick as they sell like hot cakes.

I bought this as i used to drive for them…

and i recently bought this as im a big wean !!

Hear is a code3 I did recently. J R Elliott are from AYR but have their operating base at AUCHENLECK in AYRSHIRE they are a small firm that has been plodding away for years always a tidy fleet. This Scania was from the Bitsa box and has about three fathers!!!. The fridge started life as a Corgi Heineken tautliner and was stripped of its curtains which were replaced by Plasticard side panels and a fridge motor. Sprayed in the shed and decals done in Word on the computer.

Eddie.

Really want to get this but at 325 euros I’m finding my wallet getting stuck in my pocket

I wonder what the paintwork and airbrushing cost on that outfit. Hell you would be afraid to take it out in case it got dirty. Eddie.

Some of mine .not my photos
